Condemned to decline by the emergence of trails, the Scrambler style of the 60s and 70s was, not long ago, more than a vague memory. Fortunately, everything is only eternal restarting. Skirts are back in fashion, the musical style remixes the glories of the last 3 decades, and the “revival” is gradually gaining ground among manufacturers.. Voxan launched a scrambler the first a long time ago, then Triumph rekindled the spirit of the TR6 with its 900 scrambler – Morini’s turn to re-release the studded tires with his 1200 Scrambler. Since 2013, some improvements have made it more pleasant: a more comfortable saddle, an anti-slipping clutch requiring half the grip, better paint quality and anodized aluminum handlebars. 2014 allows the Morini to be dressed in carbon and to include the Vintage Accessories Kit as standard. It consists of leather side bags, a headlight protection grille, chrome parts on the engine and a protection shoe..
Based on the old 9 1/2, this Italian machine retains the guns of the genre with its spoked rims, all-terrain tires, its double exhaust system raised and installed laterally. The 19 “front wheel smacks of the desire to dawdle in the plains.
On the technical side, we are far, very far from the mechanics of the last century. Under its rustic attire, the Morini only welcomes beautiful people. 50mm Marzocchi inverted fork, 298mm brake discs, Brembo 2 piston calipers, Excel spoke rims, and a large 1187cc boiler with 117 bolts. The steel trellis frame differs from the 9 1/2 only in its colors. The hydroformed aluminum swingarm benefits from a specific design. A time eclipsed following Morini’s setbacks, the Scrambler returned with subtle technical changes: a shorter wheelbase, reduced rear suspension travel, a 10mm lower saddle, and a bill that peaked under 11,000 euros. 2014 sounded the time for inflation, with 2,000 euros taken in the hips.
A small screen, vintage leather saddlebags, the headlight protection grid, a front fender supported by metal hoops; these little effects end up sprinkling charm on the cousin of the plains of the 9 1/2. Will this be enough to restore the thirst for freedom and independence that allowed the birth of the scramblers in the past? ?
