ERC Endurance team leaves BMW for Ducati

The ERC Endurance team, former official BMW team in world endurance racing, moves to Ducati from the 8 Hours of Sepang with the official support of the Italian brand. Explanations.

Ducati officially enters the EWC motorcycle endurance world championship by supporting the ERC Endurance team which will ride on one from the, second round of the which will take place this Saturday, December 14 in Malaysia.

The cards have indeed been redistributed since the arrival at the Bol d’Or of a new official BMW Motorrad team, following the downgrading of ERC Endurance for !

"My passion for Ducati is anecdotal"

"What has won (in this choice, Editor’s note) is the important, rapid and effective commitment that they have put in place instantly as well as the support they will give us throughout the season", explains the ERC Endurance team manager, Uwe Reinhardt, stressing that "my passion for Ducati and my personal collection of the brand‘s motorcycles is rather an anecdotal factor in this decision to enter into a partnership with them. The challenge to start at Sepang was certainly important, but we are going without pressure. It will be a first test in race conditions. For the 24H Motos du Mans (third event of the season on XX and April 2020, Editor’s note), our only objective will already be to the arrival".

Financially, the ERC Endurance team remains supported by its main partner Prokasro, but on the technical level the Ducati factory has "developed parts in record time and a special Endurance development cell which works closely with the Superbike team", specifies the team.

Superbike specifications

"The ERC Endurance Team is supported by Ducati with the presence of Ducati Corse engineers specializing in electronics on each race", confirms Ducati Corse sporting director Paolo Ciabatti: "the motorcycles follow the technical specifications of the world Superbike and have were prepared at the Ducati Corse workshop by the mechanics of the ERC team with the support of our engineers ".

Until now the ERC team has been driving the French Mathieu Gines, Julien da Costa and Louis Rossi on his S1000RR, but the names of the drivers of the No.6 Panigale will be announced "in a few days", the team promises: stay tuned !
