From the start of the 218 km special to Fimlit, near Nouakchott, Pal Anders Ullevalseter (KTM) attacked "200%" in an attempt to make up for his 7-minute delay over Alessandro Botturi (Yamaha) … Norwegian wins the 11th stage with 2’14 ahead of the Italian, but that’s not enough: he loses the rally for 5 short minutes after 4000 km of timed sectors.
Behind, Simone Aagazzi (Honda) took no risk and consolidated her third place on the final podium ahead of the KTMs of Felix Jensen (4th as in 2018) and Francisco Arredondo (5th). Patrice Carillon finished 6th, first French motorcycle rider and first in the "Malles Moto" categories (unassisted riders who themselves provide maintenance using parts transported by the organization).
"Be yourself and let the powder speak"
We also salute the performances of the Slovak Jan Zatko (KTM) who finished 9th from the top of his 62 springs (1st in the category of over 450 cm3) and of the French (KTM below), the only biker entered this year who finished 30th just ahead of Paolo Caprioni (KTM), the only rider in the over 700 cm3 category still classified.
The great winner Alessandro Botturi dedicated his victory to his mother, who died three months ago, before falling into the arms of his dolphin Pal Anders Ullevalseter…
After a festive night under the starry sky of Senegal, the competitors then joined the Pink Lake, famous point of arrival of the former Paris-Dakar rally, for a final 22 km special on the beach without sporting stakes. "There is a time to be reasonable and a time to be yourself and let the powder speak: so gas for the last 22 kilometers on the shores of Lake Rose in Dakar!", Summarizes Julie Vanneken.
