Honda reinvests low-cost with the CBF 125

Titillated by the success of the Yamaha YBR and by that of a multitude of low-cost motorcycles from various origins – China, but also Korea or Taiwan -, Honda launched in January 2009 a new entry-level: the CBF 125. What is worth -it in use ? Test !

Objectives: YBR and large customer base

In summary, Site confirms the strengths of the CBF 125 listed by Honda: "price, reliability, fluid and dynamic design, autonomy, low maintenance, ease of use, light weight"…

Too bad, however, that the engine does not allow to calmly overtake trucks, that it vibrates excessively at high speed and that a simple anti-theft device cannot be housed under the saddle..

To take advantage of this 125 in town, it will therefore be imperative to equip it – disfigure it? – with a top case. In terms of engine performance, however, it will be necessary to be content and play with the box so as not to be dropped by scooters of the same displacement.

So that sales forecasts for 2009 are rising" between 3,000 and 4,000 units, which is ambitious", underlines Jean-Luc Mars.

By way of comparison, the Yamaha YBR sold 6597 copies in 2006, 3397 in 2007 and 3848 at the end of October 2008 (read our). The potential is therefore there … It remains to convince a very large clientele: "men, women, A or B license, young and old"…
