First half of 2015: MV Agusta’s market report
MV Agusta has just completed the first half of 2015 with an increase of + 12% and has a total of 393 registrations. Italian brand manager in France Neil Webster delivers his thoughts to MNC readers. First assessment…
Site: After six years of constant decline, the French motorcycle market returned to growth in 2014 with + 2.5% (read our). In the first half of 2015, the increase was limited to + 0.8% (read our). Should we be worried ?
Neil Webster, "Country manager" MV Agusta France: Let us not forget that the 2014 sales year started exceptionally early thanks to very good weather. This year, spring was less to our advantage and demand is naturally felt. We’ll see later if this slightly downtrend was temporary or more consistent. The market and its players are of course working on the return of stable growth, but stability would already be a good first step.
MNC: Regarding your brand, what is your assessment of your first six months of 2015? ?
N. W.: The start of the year was very positive, with demand exceeding our forecasts for our new models such as the Dragster RR and Brutale 800 RR. The Turismo Veloce arrived on the French market a few weeks late but is already generating a lot of interest from new customers for the brand. The arrival of AMG in our capital has made our company more solid and more visible.
MNC: For you, what is the highlight of this first half of the year? ?
N. W.: As far as we are concerned, the development and quality improvement of our distribution network have been a priority. We welcomed new dealers there such as Moto Store 34 in Montpellier, MV13 in Aix-en-Provence, MV26 in Montelimar and Road Move in Limoges. Further discussions are underway for new openings in other regions. This is an excellent signal for people interested in MV Agusta because the deployment of this new qualitative network will allow them to join the brand more easily..
MNC: How is your second semester going? ?
N. W.: With production of the Dragster RR and Brutale 800 RR now in line with demand, and with the Turismo Veloce and Turismo Veloce Lusso now in production, we expect a good second half. We will also follow Jules Cluzel’s brilliant performances in World Supersport and plan a very nice event at Magny-Cours in October !
MNC: Finally, the government has still not settled the question of the "retrofit" (read). How much does this lack of response impact your business ?
N. W.: The lack of text and clarification for future jailbreaks has already bothered customers, dealers and the market for several months. Without real visibility on the consequences of this major event, which is only six months away from its implementation, no one can concretely prepare. The lack of responsiveness of our policies on this issue may pose economic problems for all dealers….
