Despite the two working days more than in October 2011, the month of October 2012 turned out to be negative for the motorcycle market in France: 10,935 motorcycles and scooters of "125 cc and more" found takers against 12,225 the last year over the same period, a decrease of -10.6% (read our).

It should be remembered, however, that the start of autumn 2011 was particularly pleasant from a climatic point of view. This year, the month of October was much more variable, alternating periods which are good for driving – and for buying! – a two-wheeler and others where it was not good to go out without double the tires, or even without a whole zodiac…

However, the economic and political "atmospheres" have not been more engaging lately: repression (s), retro-reflecting armband, approach of the new permit, threat of technical control certainly do not help to develop the activity..

The 125 cc category is once again the hardest hit: within the top 10 manufacturers, only Piaggio (+ 12.6%) manages to do well, not content to deliver three-wheeled scooters at the same time. an always frantic pace !

If MBK manages to improve its score from last year, it is only extremely narrow (+ 0.7%!). As for the eight other references in terms of sales of 125 cc in France, all see red in October (purple on the Site charts) and number one, Yamaha, is particularly struggling (-27.2%)…

In "large-displacement" – motorcycles and scooters over 125 cc – the results differ much more depending on the brands and segments they cover. We note for example that BMW and its new maxiscooters are booming (+ 32.1%), but that Yamaha or Suzuki, with their ranges less renewed than the competition, are sticking their tongue out with -25.4% and -22 respectively. , 3%. At Harley-Davidson and Triumph, the 2012 novelties generate less volumes than those of 2011: the Americans and the English emerge at -24.9% and -21.5%.
