New products - Second chapter of the 2008 Kawasaki novelties - Used KAWASAKI

After unveiling its new ZX-10R, Kawasaki presents a newcomer to the Ninjas family: the 250R! Well known across the Atlantic, it will land in France next year, along with a Euro3 version of the ZZR 1400. Preview.

Kawasaki, which has already unveiled two weeks ago its first "2008 novelties" – ZX-10R, VN2000 Classic and new colors of its Z750, Z1000, ZX-6R and Versys (read), presents its two latest 2008 novelties (except last minute surprise!): the Ninja 250R and the ZZR 1400 "Euro3 approved".

ZZR 1400 passes Euro3

A few days before the Paris Motor Show which opens its doors on Saturday at 10:00 am (read our), "the admiral offers himself a refreshment"Kawasaki announces about the release of its" new "ZZR 1400.

If the cycle part and the trim remain scrupulously identical to the model discovered two years ago (read and), the engine and the exhaust system of Godzilla "have been revised to comply with the severity of Euro-III antipollution standards", indicates its builder.

And that’s not all : "the efforts devoted to reducing mechanical noise have not only minimized the drop in power, but they have also improved the temperament of the engine and even raised the maximum power", adds Kawa.

Would the new ZZR 1400 develop 107 horsepower instead of 106 previously? Suspense … French! Kawasaki, strategist, will not let any additional information filter by the opening of the World Cup … But we notice however the replacement of the metallic blue color "Ocean" by a gray just as class … To see from Saturday on the podiums !

The Ninja 250R / ER-2f

Real surprise – compared to the ZX-10R whose pace of evolution is now well established – the Ninja 250R is more like an ER-2f than a Ninja ZX-2R. Proof if necessary that the ways of trade names are impenetrable…

In fact, the new Kawasaki "two and a half" is content quite simply to keep its American name "Ninja 250R": a name all in all logical in a country where the ER-6f are "Ninja 650", the GPZ 500 are " Ninja 500 "and the ZZR 1400 of the" ZX-14R ", but which could create misunderstandings in France.

Because in most French bikers, Ninja necessarily evokes a hypersport with 4-cylinder angry and the cycle part cut for the track! However, it is clear, despite the little information distilled by Kawa, that the Ninja 250R is far from being a real thunderbolt..

Its inline twin-cylinder 4-stroke, 8 liquid-cooled valves, 2007 American version with carburetors, develops 36 horsepower for a dry weight of approximately 135 kg. Enough to have fun, of course, but probably not enough for "offer drivers of all levels the performance of a road sports car", as Kawasaki announces.

There is no doubt that the 2008 version will keep the same engine base – reliable and economical – but will receive electronic injection. In addition, a reduction in power of two horses could prove paradoxically beneficial for the Ninja 250R, which would thus open wide the door to the market for new licenses limited to 34 horses. !

Aesthetically, the new Ninja 250R is adorned with a fairing and a seat backrest worthy of the last ZX-10R. But at the same time, the little Kawa receives the optics of the ER-6f. And this is not the result of chance: the manufacturer thus clearly indicates – and contrary to the choice of the name, for the hazardous blow – the placement of its 250 !

The fact that it does not meet the "French" specifications of a Ninja does not make it a motorcycle devoid of interest, on the contrary! "In built-up areas as on small winding country roads, the Ninja 250R overlaps with the same ease", promises Kawasaki.

Equipped with a small steel frame, a shock absorber mounted on rods – unlike that of the ER-6 which directly attacks the swingarm -, a front fork of respectable size – a priori larger than that of 36 mm of the American – and a simple front disc "with petals" pinched by a two-piston caliper, the Ninja 250R should offer respectable performance and controllable both by the pilot and the constabulary … A good point in these difficult times !

See you at the Mondial du deux-Roues to discover this new Kawasaki in plastic and steel as well as the rest of the Greens’ range. !
