The change is not now: this is the impression that emerges when discovering the "new" Yamaha off-road range 2013. The change is not now: this is the impression that emerges when discovering the "new" Yamaha off-road range 2013. While Kawasaki and Honda have profoundly overhauled their 450 cc cross bikes (read our presentations of and) , the manufacturer with three tuning forks was content to bring some cosmetic touch-ups to its YZ, YZF and WR-F.

New graphics, new stickers … and that’s it !

Concretely, the YZ250F and YZ450F 2013 are distinguished from their predecessors only by stickers presenting a different graphics. The technical and mechanical characteristics of the two Yamaha cross motorcycles are repeated as they are..

Crossmen who had bet on injection for the 250 cc (the only 4-stroke carburettor in its category) or on the arrival of a new chassis on the 450 cc will be so at their expense…

The two YZF have the same colors as in 2012: racing blue and white.

But even if the YZ450F enters its fourth year without major evolution, its original mechanical configuration (cylinder tilted 7.5 ° backwards and cylinder head inverted) makes it one of the most competitive motorcycles in the 450 class..

Same for the YZ250F whose suspensions were effectively sharpened last year (read our).

The Yamaha 2-stroke motocross range follows the same approach: the YZ250, YZ125 and Y85 / LW do not undergo any technical modification and are content with a revisited decoration (the rear mudguard is now dyed white, in particular) and new stickers.

Some were undoubtedly expecting a little more daring and renewal from Yamaha, especially this year: the Japanese brand celebrates its 40 years of participation in the Motocross World Championship in 2013 !

The Yamaha enduro range has not been spoiled more: the formidable WR-F or the "small" TT-Rs do not evolve with a spike, except on the stylistic level thanks to the use of new stickers.

The advantage of this technical reluctance is that the prices of Yamaha cross and enduro motorcycles should not experience too much inflation compared to the 2012 models. !
