Yamaha unveiled this morning at the Intermot show in Cologne a new 3-cylinder engine concept inspired by the Cross Plane concept inaugurated on the Moto GP YZR-M1 and the YZF-R1 (above in the photo), which allows to obtain a more linear delivery of the power thanks to the optimization of the combustion torque and the almost total elimination of the inertia torque.

Several variations to discover soon…

"This prototype will soon lead to several variations," Eric de Seynes, CEO of Yamaha Motor France, told us at the Intermot Yamaha stand in Cologne. It would be a priori a roadster, but maybe also a sports or a trail…

Anyway the first model will be a 2014 vintage, which means that it could arrive as early as summer 2013 … To follow closely on MNC: stay tuned !

"By investing in this new configuration, Yamaha has given birth to a new generation engine that offers unexplored capabilities," says the brand to the tuning forks by unveiling a prototype engine "light, streamlined and compact" designed to "add a new dimension to its category in terms of torque, sound and efficiency ".
