News - Shark takes care of its Evoline and its urban customers -

Shark offers for 2010 an improved version of its modular approved jet and full-face helmet: the Evoline series 2. At the entry level, the S700 and S900 integrals make their appearance while at the top of the range, the RSJ jet receives a new finish..

Two years ago, Shark presented the first approved jet and full face helmet: the Evoline. For 2010, the French brand is offering an improved version of its modular: the Evoline series 2 !

Gold "for those who know the Evoline, the difference with the "Series 2" is remarkable", guarantees the responsible for urban products (read), met by Site during the Motorcycle and Scooter Festival this weekend in Vincennes.

The new Evoline "Series 2"

Externally, the new Evoline helmet swaps the dark colors of the first generation for colors that are still just as sober – which will appeal to the intended target – but more dynamic. The more observant will also have noted that the side markings change.

However, the general design remains perfectly identical, as does the price: € 369. Most of the changes are therefore invisible…

To erase "possible youthful defects", Shark appealed to its users, sometimes not very tender.:"one of them in particular was very upset, he was setting the forums on fire! But with this work, he became a strong supporter of Evoline", assures the manager.

The reasons for such a turnaround are fourfold: "the addition of the Permeability Pack, the integration of the Technicaly Sweet system, the new sun visor and the enlargement of the neck guard", enumerates Shark. Behind the terms in Frenglish hide some simple … and effective evolutions? To be checked during a next test Site !

The "Permeablity Pack" actually includes a new set of gaskets supposed to provide the new Evoline "better water and air tightness, as well as a reduction in micro scratches on the screen".

Called "Technically Sweet", the new visor system corrects three points: according to our first manipulations, opening and closing the screen are easier, while the notch now has nine positions and a In General, "driving comfort is increased".

The new sun visor is UV400 labeled and anti-scratch treated. It goes lower than the old model and has a command "more intuitive". The manufacturer finally adds that the neck shield – the part located under the ears – widens by 1 cm, better isolating the pilot from noise and bad weather..

As for those who would blame an unchanged weight (about 1950 g), the head of urban products at Shark retorts that for "to reduce the weight, it would be necessary to switch to fibers … which would lead to an increase in the price! However, the success of Evoline is also due to its reasonable price"

"And then due to its completely folding chin bar, the feeling of weight while riding is much less than on other models", notes the competition manager at Shark, who did not hesitate to test the new Evoline on the Paul Ricard track.

Entry-level: new S700 and S900

Shark also offers two – or rather one – new full-face helmets: the S700, a helmet intended for "to those who need the minimum", explain the managers and the S900 which turns out to be a fully equipped S700…

Although these are its entry-level, the French manufacturer warns that it has not skimped on the means: "as in the automobile for example, we used the FEA process or Finite Element Analysis", specifies Shark. A technique which makes it possible to carry out crash tests on the helmet … even before having released the first prototype !

Offered at 169 €, the S700 offers a neat look: "it is not because it is not expensive that it is necessarily ugly"remarks the manager while admitting that this consideration remains very subjective.

For an additional 30 €, the S900 offers in addition to the S700 an anti-fog treatment for the screen, a sun visor, an anti-fog mask and an anti-wind flap both removable as well as an integrated spoiler to limit the eddies.

Top of the range: RSJ and RSR 2

Finally, in high-end helmets, a new finish for the RSJ jet has appeared. Available in white or black at € 299, the RSJ "Amparo" – that’s their name – are equipped with the anti-scratch and anti-fog screen and the iridium sun visor. The decoration, minimalist, is signed "Aka Design".

The RSR 2 Carbon – worn by De Puniet in MotoGP, in particular! – also receives a new "Dual Mat" decoration. "The interior is no longer blue but black and we have given way to the ears", concludes Shark.
