The Road Safety report for the month of March announces a reversal of the upward trend in accidents on the roads of France, with a drop of 11.5% recorded compared to March 2014, mainly to be credited pedestrians.

The statistics concerning the other categories of users – in particular motorcyclists – are stable, except for those concerning heavy goods vehicles whose number of fatal accidents is increasing slightly. All other accident indicators are down: -9.3% for bodily accidents, -9.8% for the number of people injured and -14.8% for the number of people hospitalized.

Deeming this drop "encouraging", the Minister of the Interior Bernard Cazeneuve – who has just confirmed – calls however "not to be satisfied with a single month with good results". It is true that there is not – yet? – something to be happy about as road fatalities remain up by 1.8% on the average for the first three months of 2015.
