2017 Honda CB650F: first information
At Honda, the CB650F manages to meet the new Euro 4 standard while grabbing a few horsepower and decibels, but without taking 1 cubic centimeter or even 1 gram! The mid-capacity roadster takes the opportunity to get a little makeover. Presentation.
Launched in 2014, the benefits of its first update for next season. Like all motorcycles marketed in 2017 in Europe, the small 4-cylinder from Tokyo first had to comply with new requirements in terms of emissions (Euro 4).
Paradoxically, the "Cebe six-fifty" takes advantage of this constraint to improve its performance: the 649 cc mill – which was not overexploited, it is true – will develop 4 hp and 1 Nm more than before, ie 91 hp and 64 Nm.
Externally, the "new" engine can be recognized by its bronze-colored housings. Inside, Tokyo engineers allowed it to breathe better than its predecessor thanks to enlarged air intakes in the filter housing, shortened intake ducts and a dual-channel muffler (three previously). The sound would also become sportier.
To promote acceleration and pick-up, the intermediate gears (from 2nd to 5th gear) have been shortened: "starting from 60 km / h and after 400 m, the difference translates into 6 m in advance at profit from the 2017 vintage ", illustrate the Tokyo Reds. The front Nissin calipers have also been modified … accordingly ?!
The CB650F also has a new 41mm Showa Dual Bending Valve (SDBV) fork that is supposed to improve "both comfort and handling". A new, flatter handlebar with modified internal masses, as well as a narrower saddle in the middle for easier access to the ground, are both mounted on silentblocs to reduce unpleasant vibrations. Finally, a slight facelift completes the operation.
