The government publishes the official automatic speed camera map
The government published this morning the official list of the new fixed and mobile automatic radars: ten will be in operation at the end of October, 100 by the end of the year and 1000 by 2005.
After the presentation by Moto-Net of the first automatic radar to be inaugurated on Monday by the ministers of transport and the interior (read), the government publishes this morning the official map of the first 70 fixed locations and that of the departments equipped with mobile radars . "The objective is not to trap the motorist but to encourage him to reduce his speed and therefore the risk of accidents", proclaims the government, repeating that the radars are installed "on the most accident-prone axes".
Ten will be in operation at the end of October, 100 at the end of the year and 1000 by 2005. "On the other hand, a recognizable traffic sign will be installed upstream of each radar in order to alert the motorist", continues the official press release.
