At the end of each World Superbike event, in addition to our reports of the Superbike and Supersport races, Site invites you to relive the weekend on video with the riders’ statements and the editorial staff’s analysis. !

Site Analysis of the SBK World Cup in Misano

Since his return in 2007 on the international scene (read), Max Biaggi proudly reproduces on his helmet and / or on his leather his four stars of 250cc world champion. And he didn’t hesitate for a moment to draw a fifth one … hidden by a question mark !

His Grand Prix titles are now over ten years old – yes, already! -, the Roman Emperor never having managed to beat Doohan then Rossi in GP500 and MotoGP. Extremely swift in the SBK World Championship on the handlebars of his Suzuki GSX-R 1000 (from the Alstare team in 2007) and Ducati 1098 (from the Go Eleven team in 2008), Max did not manage to win his long awaited 5th title there..

2010, the year of Biaggi ?

But what if his Aprilia was still a little young last year – and Ben Spies unbeatable anyway? -, 2010 seems to be the year of Biaggi, especially in Italy where Rossi was forced to step down from his pedestal and Squadra Azzura were eliminated from the World Cup in the first round … but to everyone’s surprise, she !

This weekend, Biaggi will have set his country on fire and silenced his detractors: the n ° 3 won with panache at his home in Misano, a track which had nevertheless made him see all the colors last year (13th in the rain in the 1st race and 10th in the dry second, read)…

If he is at the head of the championship, it is thanks to his pugnacity and not only to a bike above the rest – what is Camier waiting for to win? – or to the bad luck of his opponents – Checa and his little comrades were not victims of breakdown or breakage !

With his new double (read), Biaggi takes his lead over Haslam to 37 points while there are only five races left, so ten races to go. Of course, sport in general has many surprises in store (see above!) And motor sports in particular, but it is hard to see Max falter in his garden in Brno or at home – again! – to Imola…

Haslam understood it very well: Biaggi will be very hard to dislodge his first place in the provisional. The English rider even calls "in the good heart" of Suzuki Japan so that he further sharpens his machine … Will the firm of Hamamatsu, which takes the broth in MotoGP, be able to respond to this call? Hopefully, for the show !

First pole for BMW

This weekend, another manufacturer has captured the attention: BMW! By signing the 43rd pole of his career (read), Troy Corser once again demonstrates that the S1000RR is indeed in the game. Better: by finishing for the second time on the podium, the Australian proves that the German motorcycle is compatible with the Pirelli, that it often tires too quickly..

In France, the Bavarian Superbike, Chaussee de Michelin, is almost unbeatable. Once the Italian tires are adopted for good, Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus – or a younger, faster rider next year ?! – can certainly win in the big leagues.

As a reminder, the Nurburgring event takes place on September 5: like Aprilia at Misano and Monza this year, will the BMW team win in Germany? It would be a nice answer to the joke launched on the net by Aprilia US (read)…

Carlos Checa also had to take his revenge: deprived of a probable double at Miller a month ago (read), the former Grand Prix star climbed on the podium during the first round at Misano. He took the opportunity to climb again to 3rd place in the provisional classification to appear there as the first Ducati rider … Not bad no ?

Luca Scassa: yes we can !

Dropped out in the championship and capable of too rare blows in the race, the official Ducati Xerox team riders have to worry about … Especially as a new kid – although he already has a WSBK season in the paws on a private Kawasaki – shows himself faster and faster: Luca Scassa !

The 2006 Italian Superstock 1000 champion is gradually forging an image and a name: he shows off his commercially available Replica Bell helmet on his official website, poses next to the Big Boss Bayliss and urges his visitors to "dream big, anything is possible" !

Since the start of the year, Luca has been progressing steadily and for two events has joined the World Top 10. In Misano, the n ° 99 was even one of the eight drivers to compete in the final phase of the Superpole and in the race, he held high for a certain Haga. Quite a symbol ?

On the French side, we must be delighted with Sylvain Guintoli’s 5th and 6th places: of course, we hope even better from Syl ‘, but for his first season in the World Superbike, the Frenchie is doing quite well..

Guintoli on the right track

This weekend, our favorite No.50 even managed to beat his own teammate on several occasions, both in practice and in the race. Sylvain is on the right track: let’s hope that he will maintain this course throughout the second half of the season.

Finally, we can only be sorry for the absence of Honda and Kawasaki in the Top 10 this weekend … We note nevertheless for the world number one, whose "official" destiny in the World SBK is entrusted to Ten Kate, that it is surely a mishap.

The Fireblade, plagued by recurring concerns of chattering, has all the same already managed to dominate his little comrades "at home" in Assen this year (read) and should be able to do it again outside. After all, Checa had led her to the double two years ago at Miller.

It’s been far too long, however, that the ZX-10R has not been talked about – for good – internationally. What fly has stung Chris Vermeulen when signing for the Greens last winter? And if it was the certainty that a new Ninja weapon, sharp at will, was about to emerge from the shadows in 2011 in order to restore the image of Akashi’s firm ?

Just a few days ago, Kawasaki unveiled a sketch of its future Superbike (read), a motorcycle which " the priorities declared for its design and development will have been those of its ability to win in competition", assures the manufacturer … Case to be followed therefore, on Site !
