Update on the points license
The regulation of the points license, in force in France since 1992, has just been modified by a decree of March 31. What is the new scale? Moto-Net takes stock of the main traffic offenses and their penalties.
In force in France since July 1, 1992, the points license has just been amended by a decree of March 31, 2003. Excellent opportunity to take stock of new or existing sanctions … Widely publicized, the use of a phone "held in hand by the driver of a moving vehicle"can now cost 2 points and not wearing a helmet 3 points. But other offenses are also worth a detour, such as driving on the emergency lane (3 points), illegible plates (135 €) or , more picturesque, the "distribution of printed matter or object to the driver or occupant of a vehicle traveling on a public road"which can cost up to 375 euros !
Here is the scale currently in force, classified by type of offense. Remember that this is always the maximum incurred below which the judge remains free to pronounce the sanction which seems to him the most appropriate, and that for the fines concerning the speed and the respect of the signs requiring the stop, the holder of the gray card can be declared responsible for the fine if the driver is not identified. Finally, it is good to know that most fixed fines can be reduced if payment is made within 3 days and increased if payment is made after 30 days..
