Ducati presents at the Eicma show in Milan three versions of the Panigale for 2015: the standard version and the S version with a new engine whose displacement is increased to 1285 cc thanks to larger diameter pistons (from 112 to 116 mm d ‘ bore!), and the R version with an improved engine but which still cube 1198cc to meet the homologation constraints in world and national superbikes (FSBK, BSB or IDM, for example).
For the rest, the bike evolves very slightly from the aesthetic point of view and adopts more efficient peripherals, such as suspensions controlled in real time on the S and R versions, derived from the Multistrada. Another interesting detail: the anti-skating is now adjusted from the left stalk, as on the.
Record weight / power
With its 1285 cc "Superquadro" engine, the Panigale develops an impressive maximum torque of 144.6 Nm at 8,750 rpm and a maximum power of 205 horsepower at 10,500 rpm, for a dry weight of 166.5 kg.
"This record power-to-weight ratio puts the Panigale ahead of all high-performance sports road bikes," said Ducati – whose DG Claudio Domenicali is surrounded above by riders Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone – almost openly aiming for the and its 200 horses for 179 kg dry … but with four cylinders !
Among its electronic aids, the 1299 Panigale embeds the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), a shifter which allows up but also down gears on the fly (without disengaging), as well as "optimized versions" of Ducati Traction Control (DTC ), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and engine brake control, Engine Brake Control (EBC).
It also embeds a configurable ABS, able to adjust its action according to the inclination of the motorcycle. Concretely, this device, similar to that of the is designed to avoid losses in the front when braking in curves, and possible parasitic effects due to the intervention of the ABS in bends.
