Yamaha MT-01 SP: high fashion !

To seduce a clientele focused on beautiful parts, Yamaha lifts the veil on a limited edition of the MT-01: equipped with an Ohlins fork, Pirelli Diablo Rosso and a two-tone color, this SP version clearly highlights the ’emphasis on sport !

Like the XJR 1300 then the R1, Yamaha is once again relying on the "premium" by unveiling an SP version of its big roadster which appeared in 2004. Already benefiting from a flattering finish and a "big as" engine. that ", the MT-01 is a clever mix between the sensations delivered by a 1670 cc twin and the performance of a die-cast aluminum frame.

Devilishly effective on small roads despite its dry weight of 243 kg, the MT-01 hunts brilliantly on the land of Harley-Davidson Sporsters. It capitalizes on its original look and its peripherals taken from the brand’s sporting range (43 mm inverted fork, six-piston calipers coupled to 320 mm discs) to attract customers eager for machines with a strong temperament, capable of swallowing the beating drum virolos !

Accentuating its sporty side, the Yamaha MT-01 SP is equipped with a 43 mm Ohlins fork and a cylinder shock absorber specially simmered by the Swedish manufacturer: beautiful and efficient gear, able to significantly improve road behavior – and even the comfort – of this "torque factory" (15.3 kg-m at 3,700 rpm) !

In addition, "to complete this unique machine and offer even more pleasure in piloting", ignites Yamaha, this new SP version is equipped with Pirelli Diablo Rosso, the recent envelopes of the Italian manufacturer, at ease on the road, as on the track (read our) !

And to reinforce the "raw" aspect of the machine, Yamaha has opted for a flat and thicker handlebars (28.6 mm in diameter against 25.4 mm) and for elegant aluminum saddles cut in the mass. Finally, the new MT-01 SP is adorned with a trim in the original colors: the tank mixes red and white, while the red front fender, the two-tone saddle, the chrome finish of certain components of the chassis and the engine, and the golden "racing" style wheels contribute to the feeling of exclusivity of this "new" model.

Scheduled to be put on the market "in June 2009, at a price which remains to be determined", according to Yamaha Motor France, the MT-01 SP is intended for aesthetes who will undoubtedly succumb to the "haute couture" side of this limited edition. . It now remains to quantify the number of models possibly imported into France, as well as the inflation logic compared to the standard MT-01, currently displayed at € 14,450….
