News - A special 1700 series for the new Thunderbird - Used TRIUMPH

Listed in the 2010 Triumph novelties, the Thunderbird is available in a new version of 1700 cc. Presented at the EICMA show in Milan, this special series confirms the ambition of the English to kick the buttocks of their American cousins !

Unveiled in summer 2008 (read) and officially launched in French dealerships this fall (read), the Triumph Thunderbird is indeed listed in the Triumph catalog on the "New 2010" page. !

Definitely in a hurry, the British cruiser is already available in a new version cubing 1700 cc (against 1600 cc for the standard version). Presented at the EICMA show in Milan, this "big" Triumph novelty confirms the ambition of the English to kick the buttocks of their American cousins !

According to the British brand, the new pistons, liners and camshafts of the "Made in Hinckley" in-line twin would increase the maximum power from 85 to 97 horsepower while the torque would go from 146 to 159 Nm. to make a Milwaukee Twin Cam 96 blush on paper … like on the road ?

To manage this surplus of power and torque, Triumph wanted to modify the clutch spring. We also note that it is on the housing of this famous clutch that there is a specific "1700" marking..

But this special series is not limited to only mechanical evolutions, since the Thunderbird 1700 will be available in two exclusive colors: Phantom Blue Haze and Phantom Red Haze – strongly Purple Haze! Paintings which give "an impression of rather incredible depth", assures Triumph France.

Once is not customary among motorcycle manufacturers, the price and the date of availability are already known: it will cost € 17,490 to acquire, from April 2010, one of the 100 Thunderbird imported to France: 70 red and 30 blue, not one more !
