New Intermot Cologne 2015: the Suzuki GSX-S1000 maxiroadster does not come alone

News - Intermot Cologne 2015 news: the Suzuki GSX-S1000 maxiroadster does not arrive alone - Used SUZUKI

Suzuki has finally agreed to turn its GSX-R1000 into a nasty roadster. Stripped of its fairing, Hamamatsu’s Superbike finally took the name GSX-S1000, with an S for Street…. An F version is also on the program! Discovery.

Long awaited by Suzuki fans in particular and by fans of maxiroadsters in general, the stripped version of the GSX-R1000 had been … It was therefore no big surprise that Suz ‘presented today at Cologne its main novelty 2015: the GSR10000 GSX-S1000 !

So named, the Suzuki “mille” roadster is intended to stand out from the basic – but effective – GSR750. Indeed, unlike the "seven-and-a-half" which inherited from the Gex with the same displacement as its engine, the GSX-S1000 descends more directly from the GSX-R1000.

According to the Japanese in fact, the second "S" in GSX-S means that this model is the version "Street Sport"of the GSX series, which also includes the GSX-R"Racing"(600, 750 and 1000 cc) and the GSX" short "or"Standard Sport"(650F and 1250FA). Must follow in the background !

All these motorcycles are naturally "linked to the philosophy and high technology of the GSX-RR, the MotoGP machine", specify the Yellows of Hamamatsu. At the heart of this family and these machines: an in-line 4-cylinder," what else " ?!

The engine that beats inside the future GSX-S1000 is "based on that of the GSX-R 2005-2008, the most torquey of the series", details Suzuki France interviewed by MNC.

The new maxiroadster takes the current swingarm of the GSX-R1000 and incorporates a traction control system (three modes), already seen on the V-Strom 1000 but still not mounted on the GSX-R1000 – which is content to accommodate in 2015, ABS (compulsory on motorcycles over 125 cc from 2016).

Suzuki announces at the same time that it has provided its maxiroadster with "a compact, lightweight and redesigned aluminum frame", while the sports car’s swingarm – also made of aluminum – has been renewed as is, as have the Brembo radial-mounted front brake calipers.

Regarding the fork, on the other hand, Suzuki preferred to replace the Showa "Big Piston" of the Gex by a Kayaba, undoubtedly less expensive..

Finally, and it is more of a surprise: the GSX-S1000 will itself be available in a road version called GSX-S1000F, with an "F" for "Fairing" (fairing in English). With this bike, Suzuki wants to compete with its cousin Akashi, whose Z1000SX achieve very good scores in France….

First semester 2015

As about its new maxiroadster, Suzuki announces on its GSX-S1000F "a sporty, yet comfortable and upright riding position". At Site, we can’t wait to test it to clarify this point … and can’t wait to confront these two new bikes against their main competitors. !

These two models (GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F) will be available "during the first half of 2015", says Suzuki, interviewed by MNC, but their prices will not be revealed until the day before their marketing,"in order to be in the best position"compared to the competition … To be continued on MNC: stay connected !
