Motorcycle news: mini Street, maxi Triumph ?
Two stolen photos published by our colleagues at Ride Apart tend to prove that a small displacement motorcycle project is close to being successful at Triumph. This new roadster would take up the aesthetic codes of the Street and Speed Triple (double front optics, in particular) with a new single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine.

For emerging countries ?
Our readers already know: Triumph, like most motorcycle manufacturers, has broadened its horizons by opening branches in South America and India, in order to carve out a slice of this appetizing cake (read in particular).
At the time of this "strategic positioning", MNC was already wondering about the relevance for the British manufacturer to design a medium displacement motorcycle on site – at low cost – to meet local demand..
"To my knowledge, there is no such project, but I cannot rule out that there are market studies being carried out", Jean-Luc Mars, CEO of Triumph France, told us at the end of 2011. These studies have obviously resulted in a concrete project, since a "mini-Street" was surprised during a dynamic test session in Spain…
Nothing more logical after all: not only the coat of arms of Hinckley could thus try to invest the emerging markets, but also respond to the growing interest in Europe for motorcycles of "medium small" displacements … whose format between pile in the template of the !
This new Triumph is quite small and its liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine takes up little space. The bike also exhibits peripherals of modest size and no frills (telescopic fork of small diameter, single disc and axial caliper at the front): so many clues that suggest a displacement between 250 and 400 cc..
The English alternative for A2 licenses !
Despite a visibly long and bulky exhaust, this "mini Street" does not seem to pay outrageously in the low cost, as evidenced by its engine with chrome screws, its optics and its point-shaped indicators a priori stolen from the brand’s roadsters , or its passenger handles. The presence of radiator scoops and a small shoe placed under the mono also betray a certain care taken in the presentation.
MNC will undoubtedly know a little more about this direct competitor of the sparkling at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, and in particular to which market (s) it is intended. However, it seems improbable to us that Triumph will only restrict it to emerging countries and that it will not enrich the manufacturer’s European offer … To be continued: stay tuned !
