News - Salon de Milan: passion and dynamism in Italy! - Ducati, MV Agusta, Benelli, Aprilia, Piaggio: Italy reigns supreme at home ...

The only European international motorcycle show this year, the 67th EICMA in Milan proudly rears its head, with resolutely optimistic exhibitors and all the Italian passion ! Atmosphere and general overview of a show where the crisis is not invited !

Ducati, MV Agusta, Benelli, Aprilia, Piaggio: Italy reigns supreme at home…

Another important subject in Milan: security. A field long neglected by Italian manufacturers for the benefit of design and performance, but whose importance is now firmly established.

Ducati confirms the return of ABS

As our readers – who, as everyone knows we are a little more likely than the others – have known for two months now (read), Ducati is taking advantage of its national show to announce the return of ABS to a large part of its range: weighing only 2.5 kg, the device will be offered as an option for an estimated cost between 600 and 700 € depending on the model.

Alongside the very attractive Ducati Multistrada 1200 (read), the return of ABS at Ducati is dictated by demand but also (above all?) By the ever increasing attention of the public authorities concerning two-wheelers: "road safety has always been a government priority"- said the Italian Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Roberto Castelli, inaugurating EICMA 2009:"there are three fronts on which the government is acting: first a more effective education of road safety at school, the use of the most advanced safety systems like ABS and finally an improvement of accessories like helmets or the latest generation protective clothing"

Ducati also presents even more exclusive 1198s (S Corse and R Corse), lighter and more powerful Hypermotard 1100s and an 848 made more affordable (-750 €) by the adoption of a sober black color..

The Benelli Due 756 at less than 8,000 euros

Benelli, under the Keeway bosom, presents his awaited 750 cc twin-cylinder roadster, the Due 756. Equipped with an enormous inverted fork, radial calipers, aviators hoses and a sumptuous swingarm, the Due seems ready to sow the turmoil in the roadster segment !

According to our information, its marketing planned for 2011 could even be brought forward to mid-2010! This promising twin-cylinder, which will be sold in the classic distribution network and not on the Internet as had been envisaged by some managers of the brand, should also be offered under the bar of 8,000 euros, or less than a Street Triple, 696 Monster or F 800 R … Negotiations are currently underway with the main suppliers to offer a particularly attractive retail price: stay tuned !

V12: Moto Guzzi foreshadows its 2011 range

With its five brands (Aprilia, Vespa, Gilera, Moto Guzzi and Piaggio), the Piaggio group has not spared its effects to attract attention !

Aprilia Dorsoduro Factory, which will be marketed in February 2010 at a "less than 10,600 euros", receives among other things new carbon trim, revised suspensions and Brembo brakes to reinforce its playful side, the 2010 Shiver will be available in April 2010 at a price that remains to be defined, and the astonishing Piaggio USB scooter concept (Urban Sport Bike) announces a certain "motobilisation" of this mode of urban transport with its very relaxed position and its enveloping backrest.

Completely unexpected, the three V12 style studies of the venerable Moto Guzzi ensign, which "foreshadow the new generation of the Moto Guzzi range for 2011", assures the builder, show that the eagle of Mandello del Lario is far from being dying! Born from the collaboration of the two famous creators Miguel Galluzzi (the" father "of the Monster) and Pierre Terblanche (the controversial former designer of Ducati), the splendid V12 LM prototype is the modern interpretation of the famous Le Mans.

Powered by an imposing 1,200 cc V-twin facing the road (obviously!), The V12 LM adopts particularly attractive lines, in particular its very aerial rear part. The adoption of quality peripherals (Ohlins suspensions, Brembo brakes …) suggests a cheerful dynamic behavior for this concept whose marketing is unfortunately not guaranteed..

More sober, the Moto Guzzi V12 X and its khaki dress did not fail to trigger the crackling of flashes with its "chiadees" optics and its almost futuristic line for the brand. Finally, the V12 Strada and its magnificent white livery is undoubtedly the concept most likely to inspire (or even replace?) The future big roadsters of the Italian manufacturer by bringing the second wind that Moto Guzzi would need to return to the first plan…

Moto Morini Granferro 1200

Despite its voluntary receivership (read), Moto Morini would not have missed its national show under any circumstances: the legendary brand takes the opportunity to try to seduce new economic partners with its Granferro 1200.

Taking the technical basis of the recent Granpasso maxi-trail (and its funny front optics), the Granferro sees its engine retouched for more torque and its weight kept below 200 kilos dry thanks to the use of peripheral devices. quality (forged rim, Brembo radial calipers, Ohlins suspensions etc.) and a tubular trellis frame.

MV Agusta rethinks his myth !

But another legendary Italian manufacturer is also a real eye-catcher: the MV Agusta stand should cause a stir among many visitors! In addition to the Brutale 990R and 1090RR (read our), MV is indeed exhibiting the descendant of one of the most beautiful motorcycles in production: the MV Agusta F4 ! (see our video opposite)

Designed by the brilliant Massimo Tamburini, the sublime and characterful 4-cylinder had in fact not changed for a decade. On the occasion of this 67th Milan Motor Show, when the brand has just been put on sale by Harley-Davidson, MV finally dares to tackle the first and long-awaited redesign of this real gem on two wheels !

Needless to say, Site will very soon come back to the smallest details on this bike, which could signal the brand’s great comeback in the fratricidal fight between hypersportives! Note, however, that this F4 1000 cube 998 cc, develops 184 hp (!) For 192 kilos dry and that it will be marketed from the end of January to the beginning of February at a price of … € 18,500 !

Always as desirable, the new F4 1000 thus achieves the feat of advancing increased performance, lower weight and a much lower bill than before! Will this impressive squaring of the circle be validated by increasing dynamic services? More answers in our next test Site !
