Finally, Honda offers us an unexpected 2011 novelty: the CBR600F! But beware, this ghost – the "CBR600F Sport" was the Supersport reference at Honda before the arrival of the CBR600RR – is not a more road version of the CBR600RR, but a streamlined CB600F.

Better known under the name of Hornet, the CB600F indeed constituted an excellent base for Honda, obviously eager to reinvest a segment fallen into oblivion since the arrival of the years 2000: that of the sporty road cars..

So, according to the technical sheet of this new CBR, Honda has purely and simply dressed its Hornet to make it a machine more suitable for travel. We note in the first place – if look closely … – the appearance of a fairing, with forms very close to those which cover the "RR".

The front optic, less sharp than that of the new Hornet, is surmounted by a bubble which, failing to protect the head and shoulders of the pilot, should greatly relieve him at the level of the bust. The rear part is the same as the Hornet 2011: despite the absence of passenger handles, the "co-pilot" will be much better received on the CBR600F than on the CBR600RR !

Compared to the Hornet, we still notice a change in the design of the tank – its capacity is not specified – this in order to facilitate the mobility of the pilot in the event of an escapade on the track. For more sportiness also, the Japanese have grafted on their CBR600F half-handlebars inducing a position more focused on the front..

The cladding under the tank has also been redesigned: for a bit, visitors to EICMA in a bit of a hurry might believe that Japanese engineers have inserted their "six cents" into a new perimeter frame … This is not the case !

Indeed, on the technical side, we find in bulk – on Site, but not at the end of the assembly line, rest assured … – the in-line 4-cylinder developing 101.9 horsepower at 12,000 rpm and 64 Nm 1,500 rpm lower, the cast aluminum mono backbone frame, HMAS 41mm inverted fork and rear mono shock (both adjustable for preload and rebound), as well as the same rims, tires and braking systems, with or without ABS, always your choice…

A very effective package on the road which has delighted many bikers since 2007. With this new streamlined version, they will now be able to take the motorway and circuits with less apprehension..
