The 300,000 visitors expected at the next Mondial du deux-Roues, from September 29 to October 7 at Porte de Versailles, will be able to discover with interest an exceptional exhibition devoted to cinema motorcycles – and sidecars -.

Entitled "Motorcycles and cinema", this exhibition will bring together over 600 m2 of motorcycles, sidecars and cinematographic documents on the main motorcycling films from the dawn of cinema to the present day. Because let’s not forget that"the motorcycle and the cinema were both born at the end of the XIXth century", recalls the organizer.

This journey through the world of cinema and motorcycles is the result of more than twenty years of research carried out by Constantino Frontalini and his team from the Sidecar Museum in Cingoli (Italy).

Among the mythical motorcycles exhibited in Hall 1 of the Porte de Versailles, let us quote in particular the famous Triumph of Steve Mc Queen in The great Escape, the BMW sidecar from The big mop, the Yamaha Batcycle with self-propelled sidecar from Robin in Batman, or the crew of the Dnepr sidecarIndiana Jones and the Last Crusade, with Harrisson Ford and Sean Connery.

Other jewels will also be presented to the public, such as the unforgettable Harley Hydra Glide chopper (1953) by Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper in the no less unforgettable Easy rider.

Still in the "myths" department, let us point out again Quadrophenia (1979) from the equally legendary Who’s double album (1973), starring Rockers vs. Mods – motorcycles vs. scooters – and Sting as Ace, Mod boss !

Without forgetting the Norton "Model 18" of Che (1939) in Travel diaries (2004), the Triumph Thunderbird by Marlon Brando (1950) in The wild team (1954), or the terrifying faired Indian Scout of 1920 with which Burt Monroe broke the world speed record in 1962: in some high-speed scenes, the director of the film (2005) used a more manufactured Ducati engine. recent !
