[Video] Road: the movie about Joey "King of TT" Dunlop and his family

Joey Dunlop was killed on July 2, 2000 during a road race in Estonia. Site pays tribute to this legend of the Tourist Trophy via the film Road, a documentary which tells the story of Joey, his brother Robert and his nephews William and Michael… Emotion sequence.

For all pilots and fans of the Tourist Trophy, Joey Dunlop remains the "King of the Mountain". And not only thanks to his record number of victories on the Isle of Man: the pilot with the famous yellow and black helmet achieved 26 successes between 1977 and 2000, the year of his cruel death….

Fifteen years after his fatal fall – and his funeral broadcast live on television, with a moving procession of 50,000 bikers! – Joey Dunlop was voted Northern Ireland’s "greatest sports star", ahead of George Best who is considered one of the best strikers in football history !

If his incredible talent on the handlebars also earned him the rank of Member of the British Empire (MBE, 5th class) in 1986, Joey was even more proud of his title of Officer of the British Empire (OBE , 4th class) received ten years later for his work with Romanian orphans.

It is therefore to pay tribute to this phenomenal pilot who died 20 years ago – yes, already! – and admirable character from Great Britain that Site relays below the film Road (in full and in French version, formidable isn’t it ?!)

This documentary traces the life – and death – of Joey as well as those of his brother Robert Dunlop (who died in 2008 on the North West 200). He follows in parallel the career of the new generation of Dunlop: William and Michael, two of Robert’s sons who are also road racing motorcycle riders….

Released in 2014, this film does not therefore evoke the fate of William: died during the tests of the Skerries 100, he leaves his brother alone to continue their quest for triumph (s) at the Tourist Trophy … Michael Dunlop’s counter posts 18 victories while he wanted to further improve this score in 2020 at the controls of a Panigale V4R.
