Yamaha celebrates 20 years of the R1 at the 2018 24H Motos du Mans

Twenty years already that Yamaha launched its YZF-R1 hypersportive motorcycle! The French subsidiary is taking advantage of the 24 Heures Motos du Mans being held this weekend to celebrate this anniversary with dignity. On the program: victory (?), Exhibition, parade and competition !

The legendary 24 Hours Motos event is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year: sacred anniversary! At the same time, a – top – Yamaha model is also preparing to change ten on its counter: the R1 passes the twenties in 2018 … Not bad either, no ?

Victorious last year on the Sarthe lands in the company of the GMT94 team (endurance world champion in the process!), The YZF-R1 intends to offer itself another success at the 24H as a gift. This is the goal of Christophe Guyot and his men in any case … But also that of YART, second official Yamaha team !

On the sidelines of the competition, Yamaha is already planning to put on a show in the village by exhibiting around fifteen machines retracing the evolutions of this formidable Superbike, best machine of the 2007 WorldSBK precisely with the unforgettable Haga and Corser, then titled in 2009 via its exceptional rider Ben Spies.

Yamaha Motor France has also who will be able, at the controls of their entirely original machine, to participate in a parade on Saturday April 21 at 1:20 p.m.: "all the model years will be present and we are happy to be able to share such a moment with the greatest number ", already rejoice the Blues.

Finally, this same Saturday at 2 p.m., Vincent Thommeret (National Director Yamaha Motor Europe – France Branch) will officially hand over the keys – and the entire machine! – to the lucky winner of a competition organized in collaboration with Eurosport / the team. In game, a YZF-R1 2018 GYTR / Yamalube … Yam-miam !
