Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati, indulged in some interesting confidences on the tracks explored by the Italian brand: an electric motorcycle and the return of a radical sports roadster powered by the 4-cylinder V of the Panigale V4 ! Explanations.

As Harley-Davidson begins to put full watts on the electric motorcycle – Ducati is also likely to open its "meter" in electrified propulsion. The Red brand would thus join BMW and KTM among the European manufacturers of "connected" two-wheelers..

"The future is electric, we are not far from starting production of the series", said Claudio Domenicali during an event in honor of a training program supported by Ducati at the University of Bologna , historic headquarters of the transalpine manufacturer. 

To corroborate his remarks, design students even presented their vision of an electric Ducati with a very organic design concept (video below). Before concluding anything, let us specify that the brand is not at its first attempt in terms of announcements, since an equally avant-garde prototype had already been presented at the end of 2016….

Ducati, a past master in the art of making the "buzz", also frequently feeds counter and forum discussions with its allusions to the possible manufacture of one, or more recently an improbable one! In short, the serial launch of this electric motorcycle may not be as imminent as the big boss suggests..

Note that BMW would also be working on an electric that would have been seen in the south of France on a development circuit of the German brand … Real prototype or simple project? The seems decidedly to take its quarters with the manufacturers !

Streetfighter V4

Another bike in preparation at Ducati, this time more definitely: a new Streetfighter with the engine of the Panigale V4! It is once again the CEO of the brand who reveals his scheduled arrival "as quickly as possible" during an interview with our Swiss colleagues from Acid Moto.

This "stripped down" version of the Superbike would directly compete with the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100, KTM Super Duke and other Yamaha MT-10. This Streetfighter V4 would oversee the manufacturer’s roadster range, with more radical behavior and performance than the Monster 1200R.

Ducati would resuscitate in passing a name left aside since the abandonment of the above tested by MNC and the Streetfighter 1098. Twin-cylinder motorcycles as expensive to buy as they are demanding to drive: the switch to V4 could improve the second point, but probably not the first !
