2019 MotoGP German GP report and results (Marquez winner)
Marc Marquez disgusts the competition before the 2019 MotoGP summer break with a tenth consecutive victory at the German GP, each time from pole position! The Honda official won far ahead of Viñales and Crutchlow, while Quartararo and Rins went to the mat. Summary and rankings.
Ten pole, ten victories: such is the incredible performance of the reigning world champion Marc Marquez on "his" Sachsenring circuit since his first success in 2010 on his 125 cc! This spectacular winning streak continued without a hitch this Sunday in Saxony, after a race led head and shoulders..

The Honda official immediately took control of this ninth round of the season, which finally took place on a dry track and under the sun afterwards. Marquez rushed into the first corner ahead of his main rivals: Maverick Vinales and Alex Rins.
His third most serious opponent, the fantastic French Fabio Quartararo, for his part missed his start from his second place: the No. 20 was immediately overtaken by Miller, Crutchlow and Petrucci. Yamaha rider Petronas forces himself to catch up … and falls on turn 3, after passing "Petrux".
"I made a mistake, I asked myself whether or not I was overtaking Petrucci or not, then I started … and it didn’t happen," says Fabio. "I’m disappointed and sorry for the team, but I will come back to Brno in great shape".
Double zero for the tricolors…
This is his first crash in MotoGP racing, and only his second since his first laps on the Yamaha. His team, inevitably disappointed, reassures about the absence of additional injury. Let us remember that Fabio dislocated his left shoulder because of an even though his right arm still makes him suffer following his operation for compartment syndrome. !
Unfortunately, has crashed out on the second lap But he’s OK, it’s only his second crash in MotoGP, and he’ll come back stronger and fitter than ever after the summer break

Bad news for the French clan: Johann Zarco crashed the following lap in the same bend! Second consecutive white result for the official KTM rider, who had voluntarily abandoned during the previous race in the Netherlands because "wrung" by his RC16…
Valentino Rossi for his part began a difficult comeback from his 11th place on the grid, but his heart was not there: the nine-time world champion stumbled at the end of the second group, made up of Petrucci, Dovizioso, Miller, Mir and Morbidelli. The n ° 46 will finally finish in 8th place, far from his revenge ambitions after his three consecutive white results…
At the head of the race, Marquez aligns the pendulum and encourages Alex Rins to overtake Viñales in an attempt to follow him. But the official Honda grabs tenth by tenth, to forge a gap of half a second on the GSX-RR…
Second error in a row for Rins
The gap climbs to two seconds before even halfway through the race: unless I’m mistaken, as in Austin, Marquez will be the winner for the 10th time in a row! Rins, who had just reached his first MotoGP victory in Texas following the surprise fall of Marquez, has widened an advantage over Viñales and Crutchlow.
Assured of his second place, Alex Rins nevertheless made a mistake in turn 11: the Spaniard lost the front of his Suzuki and had to retire. Second drop in rank for the Spanish rider, who also crashed the previous race in the Netherlands while leading…
Marquez therefore finds himself with 4.963 sec lead ten laps from the finish on his first pursuer, Maverick Viñales! "Mack" is however under threat from Cal Crutchlow, very offensive despite his fractured !
The Englishman ended up giving up with two laps to go, after a few approximations that caused him to lose contact on the Yamaha, while Aleix Espargaro fell three laps from the finish. Marc Marquez continues his recital until the checkered flag, under which he passes his arms crossed on his RCV to clearly show his advantage.
The n ° 93 is followed at 4.587 sec by Maverick Viñales, who climbs on his second consecutive podium following his victory in the Netherlands. Cal Crutchlow completed the podium ahead of the Ducatis of Petrucci, Dovizioso and Miller. Follow Joan Mir, Valentino Rossi, Franco Morbidelli and Stefan Bradl, who signs a Top 10 on the Honda of Lorenzo which he replaces.
The point (s) in the championship
The mid-season results undoubtedly smiled on Marc Marquez, winner of five of the nine races contested (Argentina, Spain, France, Catalonia and Germany). Second in Qatar, Italy and the Netherlands, the Honda official only missed the top two steps of the podium once: during the GP of the Americas, where he crashed while leading outrageously..

This undivided domination is reflected in a balance of points of 185 units, out of the 225 distributed: Marquez is simply having his second best season after his incredible 2014 campaign, when he won the first ten races of the championship to win his second crown in MotoGP !
Marquez is even taking advantage of this already preparing for 2020, as he revealed this weekend by testing a carbon reinforcement on his RC213V at length. This piece – tested by Lorenzo in Catalonia – would bring positive effects according to the n ° 93, who however preferred to compete in the race with his usual configuration: "it is more reassuring to run with something that we know", explains does he.
In a league of his own, !
– MotoGP (@MotoGP)
His lead in the championship – 58 pts! – is all the more pronounced as Andrea Dovizioso, his first pursuer, is behind: the Italian, mowed down by Lorenzo in Catalonia, has only gained 26 points in three races against 70 for Marquez! "Dovi" approaches the truce with the added annoyance of being beaten by Petrucci, 4th at the Sachsenring after an intense fight in which Miller and Mir were also involved..
The two official Ducati riders are now separated by six points in second and third places in the provisional standings, while Alex Rins gives up a lot of ground because of his second consecutive white result (101 points, 20 less than Petrucci and 84 behind on Marquez). Too bad for the official Suzuki, who could however worry Marquez this weekend…
Viñales takes leadership at Yamaha
Yamaha for its part recorded a reversal: Valentino Rossi, so far the best placed rider of the Japanese manufacturer, cedes his fifth place in the provisional to his teammate Maverick Viñales (85 pts against 80). This change comes after three falls by the Italian driver, followed by his 8th place at 19.110 sec from the winner across the Rhine…
45 points in the last two races takes a solid 2nd place!
– MotoGP (@MotoGP)
Viñales, which had a bad start at the start of the season because it had been mowed down three times by competitors, on the contrary reversed the trend with its victory in the Netherlands and its second place in Germany: "it is very positive to go on vacation on this dynamic, the bike is progressing and I am also progressing ", assures the n ° 12, who admits watching very closely the telemetry data of a certain Fabio Quartararo !
"Fabio has been on all the circuits very quickly for a few races: he shows the true potential of the Yamaha", estimates a certain Marc Marquez on this subject, who is laughing – halfway? – adding that the performance of the Frenchman is a "big and good surprise for MotoGP … less for its opponents!".
Disaster for !
The rider crashes out on lap 2!
– MotoGP (@MotoGP)
Following his fall in the 2nd round in Germany, the n ° 20 fell two places in the provisional: "Fabulous Quarta" went from 6th to 8th place in the standings, losing in the process the enviable status of first independent driver to profit by Jack Miller. Cal Crutchlow and Pol Espargaro follow, who finished this half of the season in 10th position.
His teammate Johann Zarco points much lower in the table, penalized by his second successive white result: the n ° 5 is currently 17th, behind Lorenzo. The French driver must imperatively straighten the bar after the summer holidays: Johann is the last factory driver in the standings and is only one step ahead of the Portuguese rookie Miguel Oliveira (16 Vs 15 pts)…
The next race, the Czech Republic Grand Prix, will take place on August 4 in Brno. The opportunity to breathe after nine contested races and possibly heal his wounds like Jorge Lorenzo – who suffers from fractured vertebrae following his fall in the Netherlands – and whose return is scheduled in Brno.
