The association of French road law lawyers opposes the lowering of the speed limit
The Association of French Road Lawyers (AFEDR) opposes the reduction of the speed limit to 80 km / h by denouncing the inconsistencies of this decision.
"It is estimated at 600,000 the number of motorists who, in France, drive daily without a driving license, and nearly a million the number of users lacking insurance", calculates the association: "add repression is to guarantee a sad inflation of these figures ".

However, "statistics have shown that a road user has a 40% chance of losing his job following the cancellation of his driving license", deplores Jean-Baptiste Iosca, president of AFEDR, recalling that "each year, more than 24 million flashes are recorded on the roads of France, in constant increase, without knowing significant improvement nor to put an end to the haemorrhage of the figures of the road safety ".
600,000 drivers without a license, 1 million without insurance
The AFEDR therefore claims to be "in solidarity with road and road users. It seems obvious to us to symbolically lend a helping hand to road users, whom we defend on a daily basis on this subject, as this project is rejected by public opinion. . The other European countries succeed in making their roads more secure with sometimes even higher speed limits than in France, as in Germany or in England. Why take the risk of overwhelming the courts with cases of contestation of driving licenses abused for abuses? small speeding that is not today? "asks Jean-Baptiste Iosca who will parade on Saturday alongside road users.
Created in 2015, AFEDR brings together "more than 60 members" united around the defense of the interests of road users. It aims to provide "an objective view of the profession on the mobility issues of the French, and more specifically on contemporary subjects related to the use of motor vehicles".
