BMW recalls 3,627 K 1600 models in France

BMW is currently launching a recall campaign for its K1600 models which may present a gearbox risk. Explanations.

Due to possible wear of the "shift fork / selector sleeve / gear functional group" in the gearbox, BMW is recalling as a precaution its K1600 motorcycles produced between September 2016 and September 2019.

The risk is that two pinions are engaged at the same time, which could cause "the locking of the rear wheel or the shearing of the teeth of the gears", explains the manufacturer.

According to BMW, interviewed by the Journal moto du Net, 3,627 models are affected in France: K 1600 GT (0F01 / 0F11), K 1600 GTL (0F02 / 0F12), K 1600 Bagger (0F51 / 0F53) and K 1600 Grand America (0F51 / 0F53).
