2013 Beaujolais Rally: the Florent Derrien cuvee !

Road rallies - 2013 Beaujolais Rally: the Florent Derrien cuvee! - A short night ...

After a race strewn with pitfalls, with crashes at the head of the race and the merciless disqualification of rally leader Mickael Porcu, Florent Derrien pulls out of the game and wins this 46th Beaujolais rally.

A short night…

The rain seems to have really stopped this time! And here we are again for a big loop identical to the last of the day.

At the Col de St Bonnet (at night …), the official KTM rider Julien Toniutti – also known as "the owl" – released the big game on the handlebars of his KTM 990 Superduke and tears a time of space: 2’33 , 86! Almost 6 tenths faster than the best day time on this special (that of Florent Derrien on the second daytime lap who had scratched in 2’34.43) !

Mickaël Porcu follows him almost 8 seconds behind in 2’41.59, and the third fastest time goes to Florent Derrien (2’42.05). In one special, Julien is only 2 seconds away from winning the rally … The rest of the race promises to be hot !

The Choda 1100 Kawasaki ZZR sidecar of the Amblard crew is not resting on its laurels either: it slams a tenth scratch time (2’56.80) almost 23 seconds behind the best time…

The route is still more pleasant without the rain … Also we would tend to get carried away by the speed when crossing the villages, but the PSR are always there, even at night, and do not hesitate to calm the ardor in warning a driver who is driving a little too fast when he is stopped the first time. Warning which must be strictly taken into account, because in the event of a repeat offense, the sentence will fall irremediably !

At the Biconne / La Croix Montmain special, Julien Toniutti will give everything, give too much! too fast in the last hairpin of the special, he loses the lead and falls! He lost more than 6 minutes in the mishap: goodbye to possible victory, goodbye to the podium and goodbye to night points…

Mika Porcu (Husaberg 570 FS) is also very fast, but he does not fall and has the fastest time in 2’47.47. Florent Derrien is second in command of his KTM 690 SM, more than 6 seconds behind (2’53.76). Bruno Shiltz, winner of the South Morvan rally riding his KTM 690 Duke R, is third in 2’53.97.

Once at Blace we are immediately informed of the cancellation of the last small loop and therefore of the last passage at Croix du Ban / Col de St Bonnet. The special is now too degraded and the night stage can be validated with its two stages of the first round.

Mikaël Porcu is awaited by his assistance, Corsican flag in hand: he should be the winner of the rally, but … he is disqualified due to excessive speed in a built-up area! According to the PSRs and the race management, Mika had already been caught in excessive speed during the last rally in South Morvan and should have been disqualified, but he had only received a verbal warning so that he did not repeat the race. fault. This time it’s irrevocable: he’s disqualified !

Naturally, the misfortune of some makes the happiness of others: Florent Derrien wins his first rally with the victory of the 46th Beaujolais rally! Florent would obviously have preferred to win this rally on a regular basis, but he nevertheless had a very good race by always being present at the forefront and even obtaining a victory in the special. !

Congratulations to the young and very friendly Manceau, who thus finds himself in second place in the provisional championship 24 points behind the leader, MNC pilot Julien Toniutti.

At the next rally, Julien Toniutti will end his saga of the seven deadly sins with "pride" … And on which bike, this time ?

Franck Coudert is third with 161 points, but behind it will be a severe dispute between Nicolas Pautet and Bruno Shiltz, both tied with 156 points … Knowing that at each stage 30 points are awarded to the first and 25 to the second, the battle is going to be bloody! To follow closely during the final round of the championship, the Dourdou rally (12) on July 19 and 20: stay tuned !
