Road rallies - 2013 Beaujolais Rally: the Florent Derrien cuvee! - End of day truncated

After a race strewn with pitfalls, with crashes at the head of the race and the merciless disqualification of rally leader Mickael Porcu, Florent Derrien pulls out of the game and wins this 46th Beaujolais rally.

End of day truncated

And it starts again for a big tour. The connection from Blace to the Croix du Ban / Col de St Bonnet special is very short: 7 minutes to complete the "hyper-technical" 5 km to join the special.

In this second passage it is Florent Derrien, the Manceau pilot, who offers himself the best pendulum on the handlebars of his KTM 690 SM in 2’34.43, some 2.15 seconds ahead of the Husaberg 570 FS of Mickael Porcu ( 2’36.58).

Julien Toniutti again obtains the third time: the official KTM Site pilot is less than a second from Corsica Mika Porcu in 2’37.54.

And Franck Coudert? After a small fall at low speed and without gravity at the very tight pin of the change of direction located at the start of the special (in the first kilometer), he got up and quickly re-mounted his Ducati 1200 Multistrada to set off again "at full speed. "and try to save the furniture…

A little further on, he came to a standstill trying to downshift, no doubt to break his speed when entering a turn. And instead of being slowed down by the engine braking of the 1200 Testastretta 11 ° DS, the Italian multi-road catches the gravel tongue outside the traj and "flies away in the ferns and the water lilies"…

Results for Franck: fracture of three fingers and one toe, dislocated shoulder, cervical trauma and other more benign contusions … It could have been worse, but it is over for this race and maybe also for the next one…

New friendly connection in the Beaujolais mountains and we are back at the sawmill. And if the rain had partially stopped, the winter drizzle is still on the tops of the mountains above Lamure sur Azergues…

13 minutes later we arrive at the Croix Montmain special for a second passage.

Mickaël Porcu confirms his indisputable superiority and once again obtains the best time on the handlebars of his Husaberg 570 FS. He is followed by Julien Toniutti, the pilot of the Journal moto du Net, wound up like a clock on the handlebars of his officially lazy KTM 990 Superduke which slams 2’48.30. Third time for Florent Derrien and his KTM 690 SM in 2’48.71.

Behind, we find the very nice young pilot of the Club Moto Police Nationale (CMPN), Benoît Nimis on Yamaha 450 WRF, third in the rally of South Morvan and who does it again by slamming a fourth time here (5, 6 and 4 in the previous specials ), an indisputable rise in power for this young Landes, whom we will certainly talk about again !

Bad plan for Site pilot Nicolas Pautet: the engine of his Husaberg 650 FS made a strange noise since the start of this second loop. He does not finish the special, engine broken: the "cat" Pautet will remain a spectator on the special until the end of the stage. !

After this second passage in the "almost" dry Montmain Cross, the return to Blace is once again uneventful..

In Blace, 15 minutes of assistance: we rest a little and we point to the CH while waiting for the start of the last small day loop.

We are supposed to do the Col de St Bonnet stunt special once again, but the race management is aware: it’s getting too dangerous !

The pilots are therefore stopped at the start of this third loop and the race is neutralized while the race management must make a decision. The gravel which tears away from the "redone" road with each passage of a motorcycle or a sidecar make the special increasingly dangerous and the race management went to the scene to see the state of the special..

The verdict falls: we will not do this third loop, it is better to preserve the state of the road so that a night passage can be done with a minimum of safety and, with the only passage planned in the Cross Montmain, validate the event for the championship (a stage, day or night, is validated insofar as at least two stages have been completed and the event only counts for the French championship if it comprises two stages, one of day and one night).

The stage is therefore truncated by around thirty kilometers, not much in fact but above all a last day special which could have been important … No matter, now there is 1h30 of assistance to prepare the night stage…

There is (still!) Atmosphere among Corsican pilots: Mickaël Porcu (Husaberg 570 FS) wins the day stage. He is leading the race with more than 4 seconds ahead of the second who is none other than the young Le Mans Florent Derrien (KTM 690 SM). As for Thierry Canazzi (KTM 400 EXC), he is already, after this stage, holder of the title of the Sport category of the 2013 French rally championship: he was only missing 2 points before this stage, with those garnered on this day it can be considered titled !

Third, more than 5 seconds behind Florent, we find the official KTM 990 Superduke of Julien Toniutti: the Site driver is not far away…

On the side-cars side, the Amblards (Alain and Olivier) on their Choda 1100 Kawasaki team fly over the category with a fifteenth place overall for this stage..

Among the "old", Patrick Cosnuau on his Honda 750 VFR leads the Classics. Christian Lacoste on BMW R100 fought like a devil to make up for 15 seconds of penalty taken at a CH and pass again in front of Gerard Spagli (Yamaha 400 RD), then at the head of the Old class category: a penalty taken not for one minute of late but for pointing ahead of a minute! Senility, Alzheimer‘s? Christian, former top rally driver of the 80s and 90s, official Buell among others, kept a good handlebars from the top of his 62 years !

Young than forty years, Tanguy Brebion leads the 125 4-stroke category on the handlebars of his HM 125.

For their part, the PSR struck again: two pilots will not leave this evening … Speeding in built-up areas are heavily penalized, with penalty minutes above 20 and 30 km / h above the speed limit. authorized limit, and until disqualification for an excess of more than 40 km / h…
