Rallye du Dourdou: first victory for Nicolas Derrien !

By winning the 2011 Dourdou Rally on his BMW F 800 R Panda Moto, the young Sarthois Nicolas Derrien obtains his first rally victory and takes the lead of the provisional following a quack from Julien Toniutti’s KTM 990 Superduke. Report.

The race: night stage

10 p.m .: The night is clear and promises to be pleasant. Julien Toniutti, KTM 990 Superduke n ° 9, leader of the 2011 French rally championship, leaves for a first connection to special 1: St-Cyprien.

Julien immediately got to the heart of the matter and posted the best time in 2’24”04 ahead of two fierce pursuers: Nicolas Derrien (BMW F 800 R) and Paul-Christian Piazza (Husaberg 570 FSE), both in 2 ’24”71. The battle promises to be fierce !

We go on straight away with a link just as technical-gravel as the previous one, which leads us to the Villecomtal special. There, Derrien pulls out all the stops and gets everyone to agree by setting the best time more than a second from Paul-Christian Piazza (2’15”02 for the first, 2’16”05 for the second). Julien Toniutti’s KTM 990 Superduke gets the third fastest time here in 2: 16: 17.

First little disappointment of the rally for Nicolas Pautet, the Team Site driver: after securing the sixth fastest time in the St-Cyprien special, less than two tenths behind Bruno Langlois, he felt himself growing wings and left to make a mistake in the special of Villecomtal. Fortunately no major damage to his, but he must abandon the night stage.

On the second loop, Team Site rider Julien Toniutti riding the KTM 990 Superduke from KTM France sets his pace and gets the best times of the two stages. Respectively in second and third position on these two specials, we find the BMW F 800 R of Nicolas Derrien and the KTM 690 SM of Bruno Langlois.

In the standings for the night stage Julien Toniutti is in the lead with 7 tenths ahead of Nicolas Derrien. The two contenders for the title are wound up like pendulums: it will bleed !

But this rally is very selective: out of the 115 pilots who took the start last night, only 92 will be classified. 16 withdrawals and 7 disqualifications (more than 30 minutes late) complete the picture.
