Road rallies - Rallye du Dourdou: first victory for Nicolas Derrien! - The forces involved

By winning the 2011 Dourdou Rally on his BMW F 800 R Panda Moto, the young Sarthois Nicolas Derrien obtains his first rally victory and takes the lead of the provisional following a quack from Julien Toniutti’s KTM 990 Superduke. Report.

The forces involved

Villecomtal, in Aveyron, hosted on July 15 and 16 for the eighth time a round of the French rally championship. But the now famous Rallye du Dourdou (a pretty little river crossing the village) was also the setting this weekend for the wedding of the Lebert / Jeandemange couple, the sidecar crew who are recovering from their accident at the Rallye de la Sarthe (read ).

In competition with the princely marriage of Monaco for the number and the celebrity of the guests (on a rally world scale!), It was on the Wednesday preceding the race that the side-carists said "yes" to the mayor de Villecomtal, who also became a side-driver for the occasion.

As for the pilots, apart from the interlude of the ceremony of the famous wedding of Bebert and Gazelle, the recognitions are going well. Authorized since Monday but only between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., they go almost without a hitch despite high attendance, all the pilots meeting together at the same time…

Stephane Ricciarelli nevertheless came close to the correctional point by coming out a little wide from a left turn on the handlebars of his Yamaha 450 WRF: he bit the lower side and fell 3 meters below! But the lucky Corsican star was watching: cushioned by a thick mattress of brambles and brush, Stephane comes out with a simple bruise under the sole of his left foot while his motorcycle is intact … Hallelujah !

The Corsican rider will even have a very good race, but it is Nicolas Derrien (BMW F 800 R Panda Moto) who will brilliantly win this superb, very selective rally: with his incisive and determined driving, the Manceau rider gave everything. From the big show: thank you, Derrien !

Like the Sun Rally and like its last edition in 2009, the Rallye du Dourdou 2011 started with the night stage, unlike the other events in the French championship: start at 10 p.m. on Friday evening for a Villecomtal / Villecomtal loop. ” approximately 90 km to be covered twice, then departure at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday for three loops, the first two being extended by about thirty kilometers by a small detour at the end of the Villecomtal special.

A course mainly made up of small, very gravelly routlets on which the imposed 60 km / h may be difficult to maintain, especially during the night stage. The organization, aware of the risks involved in meeting the hourly average at all costs, decides to add a few minutes to the night sections. 60 km / h is maintained for the day stage.

The route has two stages:

  • St Cyprien (3.3 km): new very technical special, with very fast blind lines and an eye-catching surface.

  • Villecomtal (3.1 km): already used in a previous edition, technical, rather fast but quite bumpy in places, with nasty compressions on the fast sections.

Several pilots can claim victory. First of all, the leader of the provisional, Julien Toniutti, KTM France rider of the Team Site, riding his beautiful KTM 990 Superduke that many consider to be favorite.

Nicolas Derrien is also to be watched closely at the controls of his BMW F 800 R Panda Moto: second in the provisional for the supreme title, he does not intend to let it go! Without forgetting the excellent Bruno Langlois (KTM 690 SM) and his troop of Corsican riders: Stephane Ricciarelli (Yamaha 450 WRF), Paul Christian Piazza (Husaberg 570 FSE), Carlo Scanu (BMW 450 GX)…

For the night, the Team Site colt Nicolas Pautet has once and for all equipped his high performance LED light rail.
