Update of June 26: already many disqualifications! (read)

The big start – or rather, "the" big starts – of this first edition of the Ultimate Rally (without "e") organized by Patrick Bournisien of the Xzeos Team and Sport Motorbike (read and) has never been so close !

While the administrative and technical checks are taking place at this very moment in 5 cities spread across France (Le Mans, Besançon, Le Puy-en-Velay, Avignon and Perigueux), from tonight at midnight on the dot the 180 drivers entered on this unprecedented motorcycle road rally will set off for a course of approximately 560 km to reach in the early morning the charming village of Marcillat-en-Combraille (Allier)…

They will then follow the sporting events (11 specials on road and on circuits) Friday (day and night) then Saturday June 27 until the end of the afternoon. !

An event to follow of course live on the Site, thanks to our correspondents / competitors in each departure city:

  • Michel Bonneau (Triumph Street Triple R 675 n ° 11) at the start of Le Mans (72) in the Multicylinder category

  • Wilfried Tallone (Yamaha WR 450 n ° 3) from Avignon Montfavet (84) in Mono category

  • Eric Martin (Suzuki GS 750 n ° 267, also pilot of the rotary Suzuki 500 in the French championship) at the start of Ornans (25) in the Classic category

  • Benoit Legendre (Suzuki GSXR 600 n ° 20 … in homage to its only partner, the Vins de Gaillac!) At the start of Puy-en-Velay (43) in the Multicylinder category,

  • and last but not least our famous Marcus Himself of the Team Site (KTM SMC 690 n ° 13) from Perigueux (24) in the Mono category !

"Rifle storms erupted during checks at Le Mans where it is 28 degrees", Michel Bonneau immediately announced to us live from Le Mans:"it starts well and it promises !"At the other end of France, the weather is also stormy with clearings at the end of the day in Ornans, in the splendid valley of the Loue (25), where"16 pilots are at the start following the abandonment of two registrants", confirms Eric Martin after a nice aperitif offered by the municipality, in the presence of Vincent Philippe who came to greet the competitors !

On the side of Puy-en-Velay, "the heat and the sun are there and it relaxes, fortunately !", Benoît Legendre tells us after a 6 hour drive from Carcassonne in the early morning to Le Puy, with a freshness close to the cold and above all a fog to cut with a knife:"everyone is zen, or I would say more already in the trip which promises to be the ultimate … We are immediately in the mood with the road book which is just entering the reader, with already here some surprises: many paths close to the track in perspective when you take a look at the paper !"

All the competitors gathered at Le Puy expect something exceptional: "you can already read it on the faces, pensive about the course of the night to come and the surprises that await us"… Rain or thunderstorms are always possible on the road, which could turn things upside down during the night.

"As I speak to you, the technical checks are continuing and the motorcycles are gradually pulling into the park. Then, dinner and nap because it is 8:00 p.m. the pilot briefing is now announced at 11:45 p.m. !", continues Benoît.

Also to follow closely on this unprecedented race, a new motorcycle: the Voxan VX10 in the hands of Davy Gambino! After a rather successful baptism of fire during the Belgian round of the international rally championship (5th in the IRC category), the Auvergne manufacturer has indeed lent his new motorcycle to this convinced voxanist who intends to get the best out of it: "the layout is mostly made up of small, bumpy roads. The La Châtre circuit and the karting track at Marcillat are small circuits, requiring rather slow speeds on average. I think this route will rather favor single cylinders, which are more efficient in these conditions. That said, the VX10 is comfortable and quite lively in this kind of situation, in any case easier than the Charade that I rode last year.".

In Perigueux, and more precisely in Marsac-sur-l’Isle in front of, Marcus Himself and Pierre Mouneu of the Team Site were finally able to line up at the start after some small last minute problems (who said as usual?) . The opportunity to especially thank the Dahan family for their precious help! Pierre was thus able to take advantage of the last moments to complete his electrical connections … in order to have light to make the approximately 500 km at night to Marcillat !

20 pilots took the start in Perigord under rather mild skies but the competitors had a hard time getting to Marcillat: changes of direction every 100 meters, unlikely small roads … Hell! The rider of the bike n ° 47, Jose Martin, crashed in the early morning luckily without bodily injury but he must give up, machine HS…

Finally, still in the south but on the Avignon side where the weather is still fine despite heavy clouds pointing to the west, "all machines returned to the parc ferme at 8:30 p.m. in the courtyard of the Moto Club d’Avignon in Montfavet", informs us Pierre Faure, responsible for sports at the Moto Club d’Avignon."The pilots were able to devote themselves to setting up the road books during the preparation hour allotted to them and Wilfried Tallone has just finished installing his.".
