Road rallies - Ultimate Rally 2010: the ultimate recognitions! -

The start of the Ultimate Rally 2010 will be given this Thursday at 8:00 p.m. Everything is ready for the 130 adventurous bikers who are going to tease the extreme: report of the reconnaissance of the specials, which were authorized until today.

D-3 for extreme bikers! Three days before the start of the 2010 Ultimate Rally, everyone is busy with their final preparations. 130 competitors will set off on Thursday from the four corners of France to join Marcillat-en-Combrallies, in Allier (03), the heart of this adventure for sado-masos (read our and relive).

After a whole night of liaison on small roads each more improbable than the other, it is therefore in Marcillat that the "real" race of the Ultimate Rally will take place: ten special stages on the program including two on the circuit, ie nearly 900 km of outright rally where places at the finish are earned !

And even if the "ghosts" of the 2009 edition are well aware that this rally is not necessarily won in the specials, several pilots have all the same carried out the reconnaissance. The Site team therefore had to go "rolling" around Marcillat in order to bring back to you, among readers of the extreme, our feelings on what will await the survivors of these terrible routes of nocturnal connections….

So here we are, Pierre "Moon" Mouneu and Marcus "Himself" Troussard, accompanied by "Zezette" our shock assistant, to discover what wood the 2010 road specials of this extraordinary rally were made of. And Marcus‘ faith, it was worth the trip…

Gue de Sellat special

The first test of the route which will be launched from Marcillat-en-Combrailles for the survivors of the previous night, this special will be used three times in total: twice on Friday, interspersed with series on the Châtre circuit in the Indre (36 ) for 15 laps per series of 15 drivers, and once on Saturday afternoon.

It starts strong: we immediately take the temperature of what awaits us in these ultimate stages! 4.9 km long, it begins with a series of intersections (skip the main road, turn right at the farm then right at the "T", then turn left at the 2nd crow’s feet at upside down …) on a more than narrow path type road, then it descends (in a spiral … an endless right turn!) on a slightly wider road but with a gravel appearance but good grip, before getting back on the fastest in curves with sometimes dubious coating … Beware of water flows that cross the road in places !

The Team Site’s opinion : a rather strange type of special on which the "supermot" will undoubtedly be the most comfortable !

Boron special

This special varies styles. 8.5 km long, it will be used once at night on Friday evening and once during the day on Saturday morning.

It begins with a very narrow road (and gravel, especially in the center) which makes a small loop passing twice in the same place through a village before continuing, after having bypassed a cemetery, on the rapid and wide (be careful, gravel by places on the end) with beautiful series of turns. The small loop is very dented in its rise by a coating in "bituminous cement" … Be careful when you return to the village: a pretty bump encourages you to jump … but behind it turns left with gravel on the outskirts and at the center! It is safer to surrender than to end in the garden opposite !

The opinion of the Team Site : a superbly technical stage where sportswomen can express themselves a little in the fast parts after the short loop. Be careful around the cemetery: the more you take inside, the bigger the gravel. !

Chambonchard special

3.6 km of pure circuit! Like the Boron, the Chambonchard special will be performed once at night on Friday evening and once during the day on Saturday morning.

For fast, it’s fast! Clean, wide and regular: a real Grand Prix circuit … with fewer clearances (the organization has even planned to install an artificial chicane in the middle of a row). But the special is nonetheless very technical with a few tight turns and beautiful, extremely fast curves if you ride well … In short, grandiose worthy of a hill climb of the highest level. !

The Team Site’s opinion : the monos risk losing here a large part of the advantage that they will have been able to gain on the two previous stages … But what is it beautiful !

Special of the Prat Dam

It is the same as that of the Ultimate Rally 2009 with 3.9 km of varied, technical and fast course with good general grip: everyone will find their account. This will be the last road special of the Ulitmate Rally 2010, which will end after the special on the Marcillat karting circuit..

Departure just before the passage in "pif-paf" under a small railway bridge, then fast, quite narrow but clean and without trap, then very fast before going down towards the dam and going up "on sight" on a rather road. bumpy, then very fast after a succession of three hairpins, some beautiful curves still "visible" and arrived a little before the village of Sainte-Therence.

The Team Site’s opinion : we love, as much "Moon" on his Husaberg 650 FSE mono as Marcus Himself on his Dorsoduro !

The Ultimate Rally 2010 will end after the series of eight drivers over six laps on the Marcillat kart circuit in Combrailles.

From Thursday, the Motorcycle Journal of the Net will of course be there and will bend over backwards (as usual) to make you experience a maximum of things from its road book !

The Team Site is ready: "Moon" and Marcus Himself will start from Cahors while Nicolas "Crazy" Pautet will start from Caissargues (Nîmes) aboard his Husaberg 650 "Moon Replica". And as we needed a fourth driver to replace Julien Toniutti, in full rehabilitation following his fractured ankle, Maxime Mettra (3rd in the 2010 French Elite Championship) will defend the Team colors for the team classification. !

See you on Thursday evening for a full update on the four departure cities: stay tuned !
