The association Prevention Routière and Assureurs Prevention are launching the campaign to alert – again! – young people on the risks of driving a moped and the importance of wearing safety equipment.

Four small videos intended to be humorous show a scientist exhumed from the depths of the 1950s, who performs four experiments on food proving the usefulness of safety equipment: "the usefulness of attaching his helmet for the watermelon on a scooter "," the usefulness of gloves for the orange on a scooter "," the usefulness of the jacket for the roast beef on a scooter "(below) and" the usefulness of high shoes for the chicken on a scooter "… Comparisons that are rather offbeat and unappealing, but which carefully avoid any moralizing discourse.

According to a study carried out by TNS Direct among adolescents and parents, the helmet is the only element of protection almost systematically worn by adolescents when they drive a moped (97% of them always wear it), this which is not the case with the jacket (44%), and even less with gloves or high shoes.

The moped accident (50 cc) is the leading cause of death and injury (59%) on the road for the 14-17 age group. In 2008, 5,163 young moped riders aged 14 to 17 were victims of a road accident. 72 died and 5,091 were injured.

Tips on how to get well are available on the site for young mopeds … but these tips also apply to older bikers !
