Roadster - 2013 Street Triple R Test: an & quot; R & quot; of a brawler! - Rising features

Unveiled at the Intermot show in Cologne, the 2013 Triumph 675 Street Triple vintage will arrive in dealerships in mid-November. Moto-Net was able to try it in version "R" in the vicinity of Almeria, Spain, during its official presentation to the press.. Test.

Rising features

The new Street Triple gains in functionality. Its protection against theft improves noticeably as it equips itself – finally! – an immobilizer system by coded key and can now accommodate a real "U" type anti-theft device under its saddle.

The on-board instrumentation is also evolving. It is made up of two elements, a large analog tachometer with improved graphics, which houses several warning lights (fuel reserve, oil pressure, injection warning light, water temperature, tire pressure warning, warning lights). ‘ABS …) and a large digital on-board computer dial.

This screen includes tachometer, clock, gear indicator engaged, gauges with segments for water temperature and fuel level (forgotten on the previous model), odometer (two trips and one daily), thermometer, tire pressure indicator (optional TPMS system), stopwatch, average fuel consumption and remaining range, total journey time.

In short, a well-stocked dashboard, surmounted by a bar of blue diodes acting as "shift light", with adjustable sensitivity from the "setup" menu of the on-board computer.

An ABS system (+1.5 kg) is also offered on both versions, standard and "R". A fully disengageable ABS, like the onboard system on the Brother Speed Triple R (read our). The "païlotes" will have no excuse by missing their braking !

Like its predecessor, the Street Triple 2013 can have a small nose screen. And many other optional accessories are offered to improve the look of the machine and some features.

We will particularly remember the passenger grab handles (€ 199.90), the 3D Mesh comfort saddle (€ 199.90) or the small engine spoiler (€ 297.90). Many other equipment is available (see list of accessories on the last page), like the Arrow titanium exhaust silencer with carbon tip: -0.8 kg and 2 more horsepower without the "DB killer" !

If you feel like going to test the asphalt on the track, finally know that the rear elements (passenger footrests and license plate holder) are designed to be easily removed. If you decide to use the optional Quickshifter (468.90 €) to upshift on the fly without using the clutch, also know that it benefits from improved electronics. Additional protections will be – perhaps? – required, including crankcase guards (€ 174.90) and side protection pads (€ 179.90 per pair).

The Street Triple obviously retains its functional achievements such as its angled valves facilitating the inflation of the tires, its aviation-type fuel tank cap, its chain tension adjustment by pushed axis, its large viewing window for the level of engine oil, its front brake lever adjustable in spacing … but also some criticisms !

Among them are its side stand without a pin, difficult to grab, its clutch lever not adjustable in spacing (on the original models, some test models were accessorized), its inconvenient passenger support strap and its rests. passenger feet still so high perched.

Also note the bar ends with abrasive sides and hydraulic fork adjustment screws that are difficult to access under the handlebars. The mirrors for their part remain practical to adjust and offer a good rear view..
