It attracts attention, screams and is aggressive: Especially in poisonous green or bright orange, the injection ZX-6R fascinates younger, sporty drivers.

Something’s going on: The injection engines of the ZX-6R from 2003 onwards can easily be turned up to 14,000 rpm. Less than 200 kilograms combat weight and over 120 hp allow the wildest driving maneuvers, so that the knees either skilfully drag across the asphalt or just shudder, because this heater likes the most violent leanings, which only very few drivers dare to do. A 600 series, radically trimmed for sport, is very popular with a younger clientele in the U-30 league (and all older people who haven’t lost their daring yet). Especially since the motorcycle is also available in the line variants 98 HP (significantly cheaper in terms of insurance) and 34 HP (novice driver limit). Wait a minute, 600s? Not entirely true, at least not until the 2007 facelift. Until then, the injection ZX-6R had a displacement increase of 36 cubic centimeters. A fine thing in the wild, because on the country road, more displacement also means more torque. For closed competition circles, bot Kawasaki from 2003 to 2006 the racing machine ZX-6RR was used in parallel – much less recommended for non-racing drivers. The standard six is by far radical enough for normal gasoline heaters. If you take a seat on it, you will quickly notice: Here too the hunched over is king. The uncompromising sports machine is in demand as a used car; the aggressive green or orange suit it particularly well.

inexperienced owners, for whom chain fat seems like a superfluous expense. During the inspection, therefore, please pay close attention to all wear parts (brake pads, chain set, cables). Immediately search for hidden traces of a fall, which may be hidden under a new disguise. A complete history of the motorcycle is important. It is best to have a service booklet and comprehensible workshop invoices presented for any repairs. A lot of changes of ownership or the advice that you have been to the racetrack “once, twice at most” and then for “only one lap” means: This motorcycle was hit hard, so better hands off! In any case, the original condition and a well-groomed appearance increase the resale value considerably.
Market situation
Owners of a ZX-6R are apparently quickly drawn into the spell of other, newer machines if they are a little lighter,
come out stronger and sleeker.
The result: a noticeably large number of the still young “sixes” with injection become – mostly privately-
providers – advertised with very optimistic price demands in order to free up money for a new purchase. If a buyer is found, great. If not, just keep going.
This blurs the real price structure. In the most heavily frequented middle price range (4500 to 5400
Euro), well-maintained older models (2003/2004) compete with already heavily used models from 2005.
