Suzuki dared too little?
The new edition of the little bandit should not and did not want to be completely different. Has Suzuki dared too little? The 650s are in demand, but by no means coveted. A great starting point for those interested in a really excellent used machine.

At the usual very attractive price for what is known to be a very good service package, the first were launched at the end of 2004 Bandit 650 offered in the dress of the 600 predecessor and with largely the same technology. Still great: suitability for travel and pillion as well as unproblematic and very balanced driving dynamics even for beginners. Really great: the drilled out and therefore more powerful four-cylinder.

So the best conditions to continue the success story, especially since the Suzuki was now available with ABS, although initially only optional. In 2007, the latest type of Bandit 650 (WVCJ) appeared with a great water-cooled, 86 hp engine that met the strict Euro 3 regulations. The classic appearance of the little bandit was retained even without the fine rib on the engine. Again an all-round successful machine that can satisfy more than basic needs when riding a motorcycle. Shortcoming: Due to the many add-on parts taken over from the 1250 Bandit as a modular system, the weight is 250 kilograms – clearly too much for a mid-range bike.
New model – and yet everything is somehow the same as the old one.

State-of-the-art: electronic injection, water-cooled engine, revised ABS brakes.
In any case, interested parties have not fought over the new one, and at the same time there were still many discounted 2006 models at the dealerships. Although the sales figures are still at a good level, the golden days of the somewhat contourless middle-grader, often referred to as the “golf among motorcycles”, are slowly over. No drama for sympathizers of the little bandits, because the highly recommended 650 is available on the used market at a fair price. Well-known, proven – the air-cooled 650cc four-cylinder type WVB5 only got a little more displacement when the model was changed and technically is largely the same as the stable 600cc unit of its predecessor. Attention: The valve clearance has to be checked and usually adjusted every 12,000 kilometers, which costs around 200 euros in an authorized Suzuki workshop. With proper maintenance and mileage of less than 100,000 kilometers, however, major engine damage with corresponding consequential costs is hardly to be expected. How durable the newly designed, water-cooled engine of the WVCJ (from 2007) is remains to be seen. Although no complaints about damage can be heard from the workshops. So if the general maintenance condition is correct and the service booklet is complete, there are no nasty surprises with the Bandit 650. For a later resale, however, you should make sure that the machine is equipped with ABS.
