Suzuki GSF 1200 BANDIT 2003

Menus

Big fiery roadster, the Bandit 1200 has not been worthless since its arrival on the market in 1996. The reputation of its copious 4-cylinder air and oil is well established. Of course, since time, the competition has not stood idly by and the GSF really needed to be brought up to date.. The factory didn’t just dust it off. We re-worked the whole machine to end up with a much more sophisticated machine.
At Suzuki, we cultivate the family spirit and it is not surprising to see the 12 recover the plastic of its little sister 600. The same frame design with taut lines and the same elegant fork crown on the S version; The most visible differences are the beefier swingarm, the more substantial exhaust screwed and not welded to the line, the 6 piston brake calipers and the black painted engine (silver on the 600). The aesthetics are gaining in elegance and the behavior has changed.

New geometry and new suspensions, the Bandit is easier to handle, less resistant and improves in comfort. Formerly dark and temperamental, the 12 has bought a line. This is now safe and homogeneous; this contrasts with the slightly sinister and rebellious side which made the sulphurous reputation of the Bandit – his name stuck to him so well. A real plus for the bike, but fans of sensations who liked its sassy side will be saddened to see it settle down. Even the mill has changed its face. The engine manufacturers have re-visited it to offer it less chaotic curves. The power is there, more civilized, more controllable but less sensational. The 12 is all the more efficient while remaining pleasant to drive. Tradition at Suz, braking is powerful but still lacks bite. The tight pricing policy remains one of the keys to the Bandits’ success. Those who want the mechanics but are more tempted by a more retro look can also take a close look at the GSX 1200.
