The GSX-F label, synonymous with sport-GT for the manufacturer of Hammamatsu, still exists and is discreetly maintained within the Suzuki range. Its last variation dates from 2008: it is now a 650 which defends this niche…
650, but this is the capacity of the Bandit ?!? Yes, this GSX-F is powered by the modern liquid 4 legs of the last generation GSF. But it doesn’t stop there. While the 600 and 750 GSX-F had their own chassis and dress, the 650 is actually a … Bandit 650 with a full fairing. But what a fairing! More typical GSX-R, we do not. The fork crown is an almost copy-paste of the 1000 version 2005. Even the typography of the logo mimics that of the sports car, with a big F in red which claps.
We will therefore find the qualities of the 650 Bandit with the reinforced protection offered by this covering. So we can’t really talk about a new bike, or a replacement for the GSX-F, but this solution allows Suzuki to offer a versatile and accessible road at a very tight price. The old GSX-F did not have the heart to fight any more, powered by an antique and polluting 4-cylinder air / oil, decked out with an aging design and sickened by its rivalry with the legendary VFR. “Logically, a 1250 GSX-F should certainly see the light of day within a few quarters.” That’s what we said when we released this 650; and bingo, Suzuki actually put a GSX 1250 FA on the market in 2010.
