Dear friends from the north, we know that you can also enjoy biking here. But the last ice age created more hills and curves in the southern part of the country, so most of the tours take place here, sorry!
1. Thuringian Forest
Route length: 260 kilometers.
It’s impressive how relaxed you can still ride a motorcycle here, because the state has other things to do than control bikers. Two-wheeled gourmets will love this range of roads. From wide, fast turns on good asphalt to narrow, winding streets, everything is included. There are plenty of bars and restaurants with tasty regional cuisine, a sausage at the Oberhof shooting range is a must. There are good tour tips and petrol talks in the “Hotel Frobelhof” (www.froebelhof.de) from Silvana Faccin and Klaus Muller in Bad Liebenstein.
2. Rhon
Route length: 150 kilometers.
Well-developed roads can be found here in the border triangle of northwestern Bavaria, southeastern Hesse and southwestern Thuringia without end. There is also little traffic (as in the Thuringian Forest). The local “rush hour” consists of four vehicles. The power of order cannot be seen either, so that the speed of the country road is occasionally exceeded slightly. The Wasserkuppe (950 meters) and the Kreuzberg (928 meters) are the highest mountains here. A tip for a break is the Kreuzberg monastery (www.kreuzbergbier.de). In addition to the great routes, there is a beautiful landscape. The Rhon is perfect for a stress-free short vacation.
3. Ore Mountains
Route length: 260 kilometers.
This is the home track of racing driver Max Neukirchner. After circumnavigating Chemnitz, one moves through rural, low-traffic areas. The streets are peppered with curves and mostly well paved. Castles, ruins, picturesque villages and museums such as the motorcycle museum at Augustusburg Castle invite you to take a break, craft businesses such as the Seidler company, which among others. wooden knee sliders are looking forward to a visit. The landscape is reminiscent of Canada with forests and lakes. Accommodation tip in Eibenstock: www.badegaerten.de
4. South Eifel
Route length: 160 kilometers.
The roads in the Eifel are not unlike a roller coaster, in addition they are garnished by a wild, rough landscape that is unparalleled in Germany. Volcanic cone-shaped mountains rise up into the unpredictable sky, ascents and descents are steeper than allowed, the drink called Eifelgeist has already claimed many victims. The legendary Nurburgring also makes demands. Namely to the driving skills of all pilots. You should then treat yourself to a snack in the old paddock of the Nordschleife after a wild chase.
5. Lower Franconia
Route length: 200 kilometers.
The strengths of this tour lie in undisturbed, brisk driving through dreamlike landscapes. Time seems to have stood still in Mainbernheim. From Marktsteft there are sweeping curves, and on the Schwanberg you can drive really quickly. An old hill climb that can only be topped by the curves in the Steigerwald. Grippy asphalt, bends in all radii run through small forests and wide meadows. Overnight in the “Golden barrel” in Wurzburg.
6. Franconian Alb
Route length: 170 kilometers.
This tour leads through landscapes like in a fairy tale. Steep rock faces flash up from the dark mixed forests, exuding the charm of a vacation trip. Neuhaus, Koenigsstein, Breitenstein. Behind it the landscape opens up, rolling hills and fields define the picture. Yet the streets wind through it as if there was a competition among road builders to see who can build the best curve. Tip for a break: “Kapellenschanke” in Breitenstein. Extremely delicious dishes beckon here (www.kapellenschaenke-breitenstein.de). Enjoy these streets, the scenery and the life!
7. Palatinate Forest
Route length: 170 kilometers.
If you like it fast and winding, you can indulge in this route recommendation with a clear conscience. However, it should be noted that the arm of the law is definitely present here, sometimes also with camera motorcycles. Road closures and careful driving should be observed, but it never gets boring, because there are hardly so many hairpin bends and bends on similarly good roads anywhere else. If you want to do more kilometers, there are other road construction highlights in the region. Tips for a break: “Cafe Nicklis” at the Johanniskreuz and the Clausensee. The B 10 and the B 48 should be avoided if possible.
8. Eastern Alb
Route length: 150 kilometers.
From Schechingen it goes in gentle curves through the Kocher valley to Gaildorf. Then over smooth curves to drive through the Swabian-Franconian Forest with the town of Gschwend in your sights. From there on through the villages to Lorch. Then through Waschenbeuren towards the Hohenstaufen castle ruins. This spot with the wonderful view is under close watch by the law enforcement officers. We continue to the southeast, towards the Albtrauf. Our tip for a break is in Lauterstein: www.staelle.de. Strengthened, the journey goes back to the start via Heidhofe, Bartholoma, Heubach, Moggingen.
9. Hegau
Route length: 150 kilometers.
Mediterranean climate, varied landscape, well-paved roads and curves in abundance. You can find that on this round through the area northwest of Lake Constance. A real tip for sporty, ambitious country road fans. The “Hegaublick” is a popular meeting place for motorcycles. In addition to the sights along the lake, the Hegau attracts with volcanic cones from the pre-ice age that adorn many castle ruins. A stop at the “Little Harbor” in uberlingen is a must before heading back into the winding hinterland.
10. Upper Bavaria
Route length: 200 kilometers.
The passages between Oberau and Reutte, the Namlos Valley, which runs between Stanzach and Bichlbach, and the route between Wallgau and Kochel am See are particularly rewarding in terms of driving and scenery. The Kesselberg, a former mountain racing track, also lurks here. At the weekend and on public holidays, the route is only accessible for motorcyclists from the south side. There is often too much traffic on weekends. The B 2 between Ohlstadt and Oberau and the passage through Garmisch are particularly affected. So rather go to paradise on weekdays.
