The British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph has to recall Speed ​​Twin models worldwide because the shift linkage on a ball joint could come loose.

As reported by the American traffic safety authority NHTSA, a ball joint on the shift linkage of the foot lever can come loose. As a result, no more gears can be changed and there can be an increased risk of accidents. This recall affects 1,304 Triumph Speed ​​Twin models in the USA from the production period October 2018 to December 2019. However, the Triumph documents attached to the NHTSA recall indicate that machines in all markets can be affected by this problem. Worldwide, 8,366 machines are said to be affected by the recall, in Germany 1,068 motorcycles are being recalled.

During the workshop visit, which Triumph claims to be just under ten minutes, the screw connection of the ball joint is checked and, if necessary, fixed with a new screw locking device. The exchange of components is not necessary. In the USA, the recall is scheduled to start on January 27, 2020.
