New Elettrica and special paintwork

EICMA 2019

At EICMA 2019, Piaggio presented a new version of the Vespa Elettrica electric scooter and some new special paintwork for well-known models.

GPiaggio did not present any new Vespas at EICMA 2019 in Milan, but it is still worth taking a look at the newcomers for 2020 presented at the fair. For example, an Elettrica will be launched in the 2020 model year with a top speed of up to 70 km / h. Other well-known models such as the Primavera or the GTS Super can look forward to new special paintwork.

Vespa Elettrica also with 70 km / h

The Vespa Elettrica will also be offered in the 2020 model year as a variant with a top speed of up to 70 km / h. So far there was only one version that reached a maximum of 45 km / h. This is made possible by an electric motor that has an output of just under 5 hp and a battery that has not gotten any larger, but has been modified with a capacity of 4.2 kWh. The new electric scooter from Vespa is supposed to have a range of 70 kilometers in so-called power mode. In eco mode, in which the speed is reduced to 45 km / h, the range is still 100 kilometers. The Italian manufacturer specifies 4 hours for the charging time. Piaggio also promises that the drive should have become even quieter.

The Elettrica will be available in a 70 km / h version from 2020.

There is space for a jet helmet under the seat. Also included are, among other things, a 4.3-inch TFT display, smartphone connectivity, a USB port, LED lighting elements and a so-called Revenge mode, with which the Vespa is easier to maneuver. In addition, the Vespa Elettrica can also be easily customized visually. Basically, the 70s Elettrica is available in the four color variants “Giallo Lampo”, “Azzurro Elettrico”, “Cromo” and “Nero Profondo”. Other components such as the seat or the rims can be customized. Piaggio also offers a wide range of accessories for the new Vespa Elettrica. Piaggio has not yet revealed how much it will cost and when it will be available.

Primavera gets special paintwork

Technically, nothing really changes in the Primavera models. In return, potential buyers can choose between a few new paint finishes in the coming year. In particular, the paint job called Sean Wotherspoon could inspire one or two Vespa fans. The Vespa Primavera will be offered in the new paint scheme for the model variants with 50 cm³, 125 cm³ and 150 cm³ from 2020. For all those who don’t know what the name Sean Wotherspoon is about, here is a brief description of the young man: According to Piaggio, Wotherspoon is one of the upcoming stars in the fashion sector. The fashion designer and Piaggio have been cooperating for almost two months and, in addition to the new Primavera model, some merchandise products such as T-shirts have emerged from the collaboration.

The new paintwork is called Sean Wotherspoon and was named after the fashion designer of the same name.

Apart from that, the 125 Primavera will be launched in a special red paint scheme, which was created by an aid project called RED and is intended to help fight diseases such as HIV, AIDS and malaria. With the new RED-Primavera, Piaggio would like to support the project. Piaggio has not yet announced prices.

Sprint and GTS Super in the Racing Sixties series

Last but not least, Piaggio has given the Vespa Sprint (50 cm³, 125 cm³ and 150 cm³) and Vespa GTS Super (125 cm³ and 300 cm³) models a new series of colors called Racing Sixties. Two color variants are available, a white with red color elements and a green with yellow influences. In addition, Piaggio has given the Racing Sixties models a new seat and golden rims. The two new paintworks are intended to be reminiscent of racing cars from the 1960s. Here, too, Piaggio has not yet given any prices.

Conclusion

Although Piaggio does not necessarily ignore a firework of innovations with the new Vespas presented at EICMA, the new Vespas should appeal to all those who are already warm to the brand. Traditionally, however, the new model variants should not necessarily be a cheap pleasure either.
