Yamaha unveils its new motorcycle prep for Wheels and Waves
Yamaha revealed its latest Yard Built motorcycle preparations during the 2015 edition of Wheels and Waves, a motorcycle and surf festival (trendy, what!) Organized in Biarritz (64). The attractive MT-07 "cafe-racerise" by Shinya Kimura as part of the new project "Faster Sons" was also in the game.

XJR Botafogo-N by Numbnut Motorcycles
Based in Amsterdam (the Netherlands), a few turns of the wheels from Yamaha’s European headquarters, Numbnut Motorcycles brings together several talented preparers, at the origin of a new preparation based on XJR1300 (): the Botafogo-N.
Inspired by a Fiat racing car from 1917, this sleek motorcycle features black Borrani spoked wheels, a fuel filler cap and in-house trim (including the old motorcycle-style fork crown from course), essential Ôhlins shocks and an R1 fork.
The stunning 4-into-2 exhaust is from MVS Race Engineering, while the alcantara saddle was designed by saddler Eller Meyer.
The frame is strictly original, allowing interested parties to reproduce all or part of this transformation on their own XJR (as on most Yard Built motorcycles).
SR400 CS_05 Zen by It roCks! Bikes
Decidedly very "Yamaha" oriented, It roCks! Bikes unveiled in Biarritz an unrecognizable SR400 Dirt track style. If this CS_05 shines by its visual simplicity, its Portuguese creators have nevertheless spared their efforts: combined shock absorbers replaced by a central cantilever (36 mm of travel: hello the ass!), Swingarm in house steel and tank assembly / saddle / rear shell made in one piece.
The chassis also had to be modified to adapt to this original and aesthetic "monocoque" format (see thumbnail at the top left), while the saddle comes from a Portuguese craftsman. The single cylinder is original but sees its performance increase through a specific intake and exhaust. Finally, Bridgestone tires with wide lugs in 18 inches complete this transformation..
XV950 D-Side by Deus Ex Machina
A harnessed motorcycle, that is not commonplace in the field of preparation! The Australians of Deus Ex Machina did not miss the exercise and deliver a very nice achievement on the basis of XV950 Bolt.
The classic look of the side evokes the maritime world, in particular thanks to the bow-shaped front and its wooden chest. The aluminum mudguards are made by Deus, as are the splendid polished tank and the air intake duct..
The exhaust is taken from the SC-Projet catalog, the handles from MX and the speedometer is a Motogadget.
The rear part of the rear frame has been modified to raise the saddle height (covered with Alcantara), while six-piston calipers are responsible for stopping this coupling. And the left side of the basket can be used to hang a surfboard, as on the !
MT-07 Faster Sons by Shinya Kimura
Finally, the Japanese preparer Shinya Kimura was present at the Wheels and Waves festival to present his MT-07 "Faster Sons". The bike aroused a keen curiosity, because of the modernity of its base: usually, the preparations are built around a model that is far more "proven" than the recent Yamaha roadster. !
The mix of genres is quite successful, giving this Cafe Racer a strong identity of which its creator is very proud: "whether you use a retro engine or a modern engine, the two have one thing in common: a functional aspect to which we give shape. I think I have succeeded in creating a motorcycle that combines history, retro style and modern technologies, which promises a great driving experience ".
To prove it, the Japanese did not hesitate to ride his creation during the friendly hill climb organized during the Wheels and Waves, with an old-fashioned start: left hand on the helmet until the flag was lowered. (see videos below).
