Statements, videos and analyzes of the WSBK event in Misano
At the end of each World Superbike event, in addition to our reports of the Superbike and Supersport races, Site invites you to relive the weekend on video with the riders’ statements and the editorial staff’s analysis. !
Statements from the second Superbike race
Max Biaggi 1st: "In such a tough and balanced championship, every victory is deserved and takes hard labor and sweat. In the second run, to be honest, I maybe rode over the edge and took a little too much risk. But on the other hand, without risk, no profit! This race is a crucial moment for us and our season we are coming out of with our heads held high. As usual, I want to thank everyone, from the bottom of my heart: from the guys in the team to our supporters. Such victories do not come by mere luck and these in particular are well deserved by a large family working together towards a common goal.".
Leon Haslam (8th then) 2nd: "After the problems we endured this weekend (with the clutch and electronics), I think my 8th place in the first race was probably the best I could do. All credit goes to the team as they returned to settings used in the USA and South Africa, and the bike was performing much better in the second round. The second race felt normal to me and the bike was behaving a million times better than in the first race, although I got lots of blisters in my hands from pushing. I took a lap or two to get past Troy and Michel in the second heat, so Max was too far for me to catch up. He rides well and the Aprilia is the bike to beat right now, but I’m confident that as long as we keep working hard, we can beat him. We do all of our development on our own and it’s all of that hard work that makes us competitive. If Suzuki Japan could give us a little more help, that would be greatly appreciated, and would be of great benefit to all of us. In the meantime, I will continue to fight for new podiums. That was my goal before the season started, and it remains so today".
Michel Fabrizio 3rd: "In the second round we didn’t win but we got on the podium, which is a good result. It was not easy: once Max passed, I couldn’t counter-attack him and I did my best to keep my third place against Crutchlow. I would like to dedicate my podium to my team because every week my engineers work hard and continue to believe in me".
Cal Crutchlow (DNF then) 4th: "I got off to a decent start in the second heat, but I got caught in the first corner of the first lap so I had to get over it. I was disappointed to bow to Fabrizio at the end, I just lost a little momentum out of the corner and he managed to pass me back. Coming here and turning at this pace with this level of grip was amazing, I hope we can improve even more this week at Imola. I made a stupid mistake in the 1st heat, I had a full tank and I just overloaded the front end to try to get back on the leading men and lost the front but I think I redeemed myself in the 2nd handle".
Carlos Checa 5th: "The 2nd race was great but we didn’t get the same result as in the 1st. Crutchlow and Haslam had better grip than me and when Biaggi escaped I lost contact with them. It was a bit difficult to follow the 4-cylinders in the straights but the weekend was positive as I regain my 3rd place in the provisional classification".
Troy Corser 10th: "We made a few changes to the setup to get more rear grip, but that meant losing a bit of front feel and affecting the handling of the bike. Unfortunately at the end of the race I fell into a false neutral point and I missed a brake mark: I went into the gravel. I finished 10th. But it’s another very satisfying weekend and we can focus on Brno".
