MotoGP bike with a classic look
Yamaha first took part in a Grand Prix 60 years ago. Now the Japanese are celebrating this anniversary with a YZR-M1 in a special red and white paint scheme.

On Wednesday (March 10th, 2021) 60 years ago, the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha participated in a Grand Prix for the first time. Now Yamaha is celebrating this anniversary with a special paint job for the current MotoGP machine. It has now been presented as part of the test drives in Losail in Qatar.
Yamaha’s Grand Prix racing history began in 1961 when a five-man Yamaha team, including Fumio Ito and Taneharu Nogushi, together with the newly developed 250 cc in-line double RD48 and the 125 cc single-cylinder RA41 factory machines to Europe flew and made their GP debut in France in round three of the season.

The honor of presenting the anniversary model of the YZR-M1 went to Yamaha MotoGP test – and replacement driver Cal Crutchlow. The iconic red and white Yamaha colors have been chosen to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Yamaha’s first Grand Prix race and to pay tribute to the great Yamaha riders past and present. In addition to the bike, the entire team and Cal Crutchlow himself wrapped themselves in an anniversary look, which is also dominated by the classic Yamaha racing colors red and white.
As part of the anniversary, Yamaha will organize various activities and initiatives throughout the 2021 racing season to celebrate this significant milestone.
Conclusion
Yamaha celebrates 60 years of participation in the GP and paints a YZR-M1 in the classic racing colors of the early years. MotoGP bikes can look so beautiful if you don’t have to take sponsors into account.
