Crossers generally seem more front-wheel oriented

As with the engine, Yamaha has its own philosophy when designing the chassis. The blue crossers generally seem more front-wheel oriented. This brings very good traction at the front and secure grip in curves, as the bike stays on the ground as if on rails. This is particularly noticeable in the many hanging corners of this route, which was well watered and therefore sometimes offered very little grip. Here the 250 gives the driver a lot of confidence in the grip of the front wheel, you can bend surprisingly strong and choose the tightest lines.

The disadvantage of this design is that the rear wheel drifts away easily when you accelerate out. It helped to increase the sag on the test machine with the driver to 100 millimeters and to remove the pressure damping by a few clicks. The suspension is rather comfortable, but the middle area of the fork, which works with steel springs, is quite hard.

All in all, a successful performance. With the new 250cc, Yamaha should finally have closed the gap to the competition in this hotly contested class.
