The version
Rally of the 700 Tenere is back. Introduced as an add-on in 2019, the term synonymous with epic (or less) hikes becomes more
consistent in 2020. The bike asserts itself by taking advantage of a specific color,
then take equipment almost similar to that of the previous year. Plumage
at the height of the ramage?
With this
bike, Yamaha has returned to the trail spirit, with the joy of roaming the asphalt
or pebbles without asking questions. In Rally mode, we believe it
any further. The equipment involves it, the presentations are not shy.
The livery
Rally 2020 completely eclipses the modern or neo-retro colors for
proudly bring out the blue and yellow typical of the heyday of
Paris-Dakar. The Speedblock design comes back to the sides. What to do
relive in memory the XT 600 that crossed the sand, the 750 Super
Tenere strolling towards multiple victories, and the impressive prototypes
with 4-cylinder FZ engines driven by Jean-Claude Olivier himself.
Point of
mechanical bidding here but the excellent twin CP2 from the MT-07s. It will show
a little more grumbling with the silent Akrapovic that Yam added to him.
More pleasant sound will accompany a gain in performance. The appendix lightens
the load of 2.3 kilos, allows up to 1.7 kW more in the curve of
power and also strengthens the torque with a little additional 2.3 Nm.
The seat plays
an important role in off-road. There is therefore here a specific saddle, flatter
and 20 mm higher to better control the driving, pass more easily
from sitting to standing. Protective pads installed at the
thighs improve driving exercise; we no longer control when
it slips less against the knees.
But with a saddle height of 895 mm, small riders will need to provide
some effort on boarding and at stops.
The turn signals at
LEDs give a little extra fun touch. We will be more quiet about
everyday adventurer with TT handles giving more grip to the hands, and
the protection efforts that the Tenere 700 Rally embeds. A hoof much more
sturdy, larger in size and 4 mm thick takes place under the
motor. The radiator is protected with an aluminum grid while the chain is
helmeted with a laser-cut casing (also in aluminum).
Some will find that a tubular hoop securing the sides would have been
good luck: others will think that the hoof will do the job enough.
The Yamaha
Tenere 700 Rally arrives this summer for a price still salty. 11500 balls
the medium displacement trail! Gone are the days when an XT was worth
cheaper than a CB 500. But the claims are not the same.
