New … to us. Because this model has been around for a while in the United States under the name Star Stratoliner Deluxe. A long haul derived from the 1900 Midnight Star cruiser. In fact, it is not the Rican model that crosses the Atlantic but a Midnight Star ’12 equipped with a “bagger” pack. The result is VSasual Full Dress – From this elongated and majestic base, Yamaha designed a lightened Tourer with a cape-shaped fork crown, two side cases with quick release and attachment system, its huge twin and a deep black dotted with a few chrome. The colossal twin-cylinder wins a new clutch with assisted slip which reduces the effort at the handle by 20%. Its main role is to digest the excess torque when decelerating – the 1900 still comes out with 17 mkg. This clutch and the transplant of touring appendages are the only modifications compared to the standard 1900 Midnight Star.
Ideal for cruising with a monstrous muscle under the grip, the 1900 CFD is imposing, its glitter paint the most beautiful effect, and although it is irremediably reminiscent of the Harley-Davidson pig nose, the large fork crown gives off its own personality. Uncluttered to the maximum of its front face, the rear is less flattering. The plastics and the assembly do not give off a high quality impression. A tiny storage compartment has been dug just under the nose screen, just enough to accommodate a smartphone and a wallet.
Small personal regret: why not have kept the US name? Admit that Statroliner Deluxe, it gives off frankly more cachet than CFD…
